Mimi Matthews Books Novels & Stories

Tonight's rain was not normally heavy , and the wind had been howling outside. The entire Hustleburg seemed to be shrouded in a curtain of rain. On the Pines Ridge side, Tim's little hand pulled the window shut and then ran to Godfery's bedroom. Godfery was reading a book from this morning's financial paper, which contained an interview with Matthew. It was full of praise, and at the end it said that Matthew was a rare business genius.

“Katherine, is this connected to everything you told me?.” Katherine’s grip on Lucy’s hand tightened, and she took a deep breath before speaking. “Lucy, what you experienced was more than just a dream. It’s a manifestation of your wolf trying to break free. I told you before, how your mother locked your wolf away. She was scared she wouldn't be around to help you and that you might lose yourself as you are just like your mother, maybe more powerful than her.” Katherine let out a smile.

Irritated by that response, I spit with dominance, “Give me fucking answers, Miriam! How do I fix my mate bond?” -

“Mate, did you hear that? Did a freaking tree branch just drop or what?” Alpha Matthew took a quick peek out the window and was like, “Meh, whatever.” “What’s up? Is there something going on out there?” I asked. “It’s probably nothing. Maybe it’s just some prankster or Theophile looking for something up in the tree,” Alpha Matthew replied. “Ready to take a dip?” “I’ll catch up with you later. I’m still keen on finishing this book.” Alpha Matthew exclaimed, showing me a book with a black and gold cover.

It was as if she had vanished from my world. I tried to log into her personal blog several times and finally succeeded when I used my birthday as her password. As I searched her private space, I found her hidden diary. In the diary, I learned that Brutus had viciously licked Ava’s decaying legs during her final days. I could not fully understand what pain truly felt like. But if it could be expressed in words, it must be exactly as Ava described. At that moment, it seemed like something was about to well up in my eyes and was ready to spill over.

“Blake, please, just tell me.” He takes a deep breath. “Anna... she’s my mate.” My breath catches in my throat. His mate? That’s not possible. “What do you mean she’s your mate?” I demand, struggling to keep my voice calm. “We’ve been together for three years, Blake. You can’t just throw that away for someone you barely know.” “I’m sorry,” he says, his eyes full of regret. “I didn’t mean for it to happen. I’ve been trying to fight the mate bond for a very long time now, Violet. But I can’t deny the connection I feel with her. I have to be with Anna.”

Damn this mate bond. "I'm done with you," I snapped, my eyes blazing. "I don't need you, James." "Emily, I'm about to become Alpha," he said, waiting for me to relent. "Being my mistress is your best choice. Your mother's life is at stake." He turned to leave, adding, "You'll come around. Your mother can't wait." "I don't need it!" I screamed after him, collapsing, tears streaming down my face. Was there no escape? Would I watch my mother suffer?

No idea for Harper. What would love make me confess next? I drift into the fantasy aisle and grab a random book. It turns out to be a romance. My old boss would have deducted half my salary for that. I slide to the floor automatically, hug my knees, and lose myself in ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’ by V.E. Schwab. The way Addie tries to matter in a world that forgets her feels too real. “Funny choice of book.” Matthew’s voice pulls me out of the pages. I look up, and he’s standing over me with that stare that could fry a person alive.

But all I could think of was the time I spend here with my mate. There were so many memories to let go. Her naked body under the shower with water cascading her curves, her sweet moans, the way she explodes throwing her head back with her eyes half closed as she screams my name.[2] The memories haunted me to where I couldn’t stand anymore. I dried off and put my clothes going into the office. My mom was already there in her seat reading through some files. After my mate eloped, she took back the role of the Luna again helping me with running the pack and our business.

"We have the elderly, the children, and people who haven't slept in three days. You tell them to run, they’ll break. You tell them to pray, they’ll sit down and wait to die. You have to start filtering what you say to them." A middle-aged woman, Marni, stepped forward from the shadows of the cave entrance. She was the informal spokesperson for the displaced, a woman whose home had been turned into a crater two weeks ago. She looked at Rangga, then at Arung, her expression a mix of desperate hope and profound exhaustion. "We heard the mountain groan again," Marni said, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands. "The ground shifted. My son says he felt it too. Is it the spirits, Arung?
