She lay on the bed, kicking her legs in the air as she coloured her drawing. It didn't come out as planned, but it did look similar to what she pictured in her head. Her short hair was messed up and unnecessarily filled with pins. She hummed, tapping her chin thoughtfully with her head tilted to the side to observe her work. It was still missing something. Sunshine. She picked her yellow coloured pencil and drew a big bright sun.

Dropping to one knee so that she could look him in his eyes, as she always did, Nellie took the paper from Max and turned it to see his picture. She smiled when she saw that he had drawn them running through the forest like wolves. He had drawn the trees, flowers, and bumblebees in 2D, and it was a little messy. But her heart burst with pride. “It’s beautiful, thank you so much. But why is your wolf so big Maxi-Moo?” She asked him.

Miranda squatted down to hug the little fellow, "Darling, did you finish your drawing? Brian nodded affirmatively. "What did you draw? Can I look at it?" Brian immediately passed the drawing to her to have a look at. The moment she saw it, her eyes teared up. As usual, she was the subject of the drawing. The colors used in the painting were vibrant and dream-like. She was lying on a small bed, holding a storybook in hand. However, Brian had drawn it from his perspective, when he was lying by her side and watching her from below.

She asked them if they had eaten and advised them repeatedly before going back to her work room. Mira quickly entered space and started working on the pattern for her godmother. The pattern was similar to that of her mother with the difference of flower being magnolia flowers and the bird being godmother’s favorite bird, blue tit bird. I genuinely considered murdering him right at that moment, eventually Ariana grabbed my hand excitedly before dragging me toward the bed again. "Look!" she announced proudly while showing me several drawings scattered across the blanket. "I made all these yesterday!" She must've drawn all these with the things Zachary brought for her, I sat beside her carefully while looking through them one by one. Most were colorful princesses, cats, cartoon flowers, and somehow one extremely violent drawing of Maddison being attacked by pigeons.

She was somewhere around seven or eight, completely absorbed in whatever she was drawing, her tongue pressed to the corner of her mouth in concentration. I lowered myself carefully into a chair near her, mindful of my ribs, and looked at the paper. The drawing was full. Not in a crowded way, in a deliberate way, like she had a clear picture in her head and was working her way across the page with intention. “I drawed this for Miwella!” Mirella leaned closer, her eyes wide. “Wow!” she exclaimed with theatrical awe, taking the drawing. It was a bit scribbled, with lines overlapping and colors outside the borders. But amidst the wild pinks and greens, was clearly a giant flower with a happy sun in the corner. “This is a really pretty drawing,” Kaliyah added sincerely, smiling at Lani. The little girl beamed and swayed from side to side proudly. Then she tilted her head, staring up at Kaliyah.

Then she turned off the lamp, and Lila rolled over, hugging her koala tight. Before she fell asleep, she thought about the picture she’d drawn. The big pink tree. The people underneath.
