I could smell them before they smelt me. Ten years of being a rogue meant I had trained myself to be able to smell a threat before they became a threat, it was a trick which had gotten me out of many certain death situations. I shifted before they had emerged from the clearing and was preparing myself for an attack. I wasn't going to go down easy and it was sure as hell going to take more than a couple of male-wolves to take me down.

Leading them was a dark brown wolf, its golden eyes blazing with fury. Its gaze locked on me, and it snarled, its lips curling to reveal sharp, glinting teeth. I recognized him instantly. Liam Miller. I couldn’t breathe. My heart thudded against my ribs, a mix of shock and dread. Shock because Liam was here, and dread because I have no idea why he was here. Did he really come to helo us? Liam’s wolf stood over me, massive and imposing, his fur dark as midnight and streaked with the blood of our enemies. He licked his sharp teeth after biting the neck of the masked figure who tried to blocked his way. Now, I understand why they called him the Bloodhound.

Mirage's P.O.V "If you see the blood-works closely, both Mirage and Alpha Krimson have the same proteins in their blood in higher quantities." Daisy pointed out to the projector screen, which had an image of several circular or oval shaped bug-like "cells" swimming in a pit of more such bug-like cells. "The two images are nearly identical. The only difference is the amount of adrenaline in definitely higher for both of them, but more so in case of Mirage."

He activated the crimson circle. The giant Blood Mirror above me glowed. A dark red beam pierced my veins. Agony shot through me like a million silver needles. It was pulling out my memories. The Crimson Trial drains a vampire's blood to project their past. It shreds the soul. It feels like burning under the noon sun. It is the cruelest punishment for traitors. I felt the mirror sucking my life away. But I didn't fight it. Instead, I felt a weird, perfect peace.

TALIA “No!” I cried. “We have to find your fingers! She spit them out!” “The water is freezing, and they’ve probably been taken downstream by now. Sara’s the only werewolf I know who can swim long distances in freezing water—long enough to find fingers in a huge river. And the water will have carried away the scent anyway.” He looked defeated, tears brimming his eyes. “I will find them,” I said resolutely.

The silver-hounds were beasts of nightmare—wolves bred with dark alchemy and conditioned to hate the scent of magic. They lunged across the frost-covered grass of the valley, their jaws snapping with bone-crushing force. Lyra waited until the lead hound was inches from her throat.

" N-o! Lea-ve m-e dammit!" Lifting him up making his feet to hang in the air. He is made to hang in front of Miraki. The sight making dread to settle in him. Miraki i.e the strongest wolf in history was an almost triple size wolf with jet black fur. Red eyes. Long barred canines and an aura that can make a pup piss. His nails were like pointed knives which could kill by mere touching. Yet the most striking thing was that mark of 7 stars on his back. Connected by a yellow light of thread.

I walked forward like I always did and I let my attention drift while every instinct locked onto the space just beyond the treeline to my left. There was something there. A shift that didn’t match the wind and a presence that didn’t belong. I took two more steps like I hadn’t noticed and then I moved fast. I crossed the distance in the blink of an eye and drove my body into the nearest tree. My blade came up under their jaw before they could react. “Move and you lose your throat.” I said while keeping my voice calm as I held them there. They didn’t fight and that felt wrong. Then the smell hit me. It wasn’t a vampire or a pack wolf. It was a fucking rogue.

"All you had to do was accept what happened, you didn't have to destroy him." "That's how I accepted it," I crossed my arms. "You know, they say that fear makes blood tastier. Your kids blood proved it." Mirage me licked her claws, the faint images of my kids behind her. "NO!! I'd NEVER hurt my family!!" "Then what's this?" She motioned behind her. "Lies!" I growled. "You're a blood crazed demoness and you can barely satiate it." "STOP IT!!" I covered my ears.
