Something massive crashed through the hedge below, and I dropped the last six feet, rolling, coming up with my back to the stone wall. The hound was enormous. Not an Academy breed. Not anymore. Its fur had gone patchy, falling away in clumps to reveal skin that glowed with corrupted moonlight - the silver-green of lunar poison, the kind that turned loyal beasts into weapons. Foam dripped from jaws that could crush a femur. Its eyes, once the warm brown of trained animals, were now void-black, reflecting nothing, hungry for anything that moved. Between me and the hound, a first-year girl had frozen.

He smelled them before he came upon them. Clustered, marbled scents packed together. He could parse some scents from the herd but not all. Hunter used his remaining ki to give the mirage substance and texture as he had before and sent it forth like a bird on wing. Only this bird’s wings grew and swelled, and with each flap the light in the corridors retreated. Even Hunter was blinded by this casting, but he smelt their perspiration, heard rustling cloth, felt hot breath.

I walked forward like I always did and I let my attention drift while every instinct locked onto the space just beyond the treeline to my left. There was something there. I crossed the distance in the blink of an eye and drove my body into the nearest tree. My blade came up under their jaw before they could react. “Move and you lose your throat.” I said while keeping my voice calm as I held them there. They didn’t fight and that felt wrong. Then the smell hit me. It wasn’t a vampire or a pack wolf. It was a fucking rogue.

They had the intelligence of a ten-year-old human, were fiercely loyal, fearless, and had extremely sharp senses of smell and perception. An adult Bloodhound could grow to 2.5 meters in length, with a long tail, extremely developed muscles, and a large mouth. The tip of their mouth was shaped like a cone, with narrow jaws and two rows of sharp teeth, capable of incredible bite force. Bloodhounds had no fur, only smooth and incredibly tough skin. They had excellent digestive and healing abilities, rapidly recovering from injuries through consumption. My little scuffle with my wolf causes me to miss part of their conversation. Suddenly, Mirah stops fighting me and perks her ears. Then I hear it. A blood-curdling scream filled with fear, anguish, and a hint of regret. Yes, I actually can detect and separate different emotions. Maybe that is Mirah's attribute. Without a second thought, I dash toward the group anger consuming me. How dare they come to our territory and hurt my people. However, my legs fail me when I see what was happening. None of the strangers are doing anything. It is actually Scarlett scratching and biting Sky. Mirah takes over and as always I have no recollection of what happens after.

I have pretty strong healing powers myself, so it would be only natural they have it as well. Mirage on the other hand; she has somewhat elemental control, healing on a much larger scale, can move things with her mind, make illusions in one's mind, communicate and control animals and she can already turn into her baby wolf. She also always knows what is going on with her twin, and will instantly try to get to her by all means necessary.
