At first, I had tried to make sure I was nowhere in sight when he gave his speech. I had only seen stuff like these in movies. For a moment, I almost forgot I had a sick mother in the hospital. "Come back to your senses, Ana," I whispered out loud. First thing first, I need to shower, something to take my mind away from the stress I had to keep up with today. I pulled off my clothes and turned on the shower.

She turned on the spray and pointed it at me. “What are you doing?” I shrieked. The water was cold. “You’ve wallowed long enough,” mom said. “It’s time you rejoin the land of the living.
