Command of the Wolf

Command of the Wolf

When it was cold and damp with many animals huddled inside, the barn became a breeding ground for potential infection and the death of the calves if the pack didn’t stay vigilant. Montana weather was fierce and unpredictable, particularly in the winter and early spring, but the northwest side of the state was always in for the worst. Even though the Missoula ranch and the main ranch at Wolf Pack Run outside Billings were only a few hours apart, the difference in weather between the northwest and south/central areas had to be taken into account. “Did you put that on the list already? To check the pipes out here when the weather warms?” Dean asked. Jeremy glanced down at his own clipboard, fin

Skye

Skye

Finally, reaching the other side of the lake, we made our way across the moguls towards the glistening peaks emerging from several low-lying clouds. Maintaining a good pace, we arrived at the base of the mountain. I turned to Dresna. “A couple of energy bursts, and we’ll be gazing down at what was once a thriving metropolis.” Dresna stared up at the sheer cliff that towered above us. “Or we’ll be face to face with our ancestors,” he suggested sarcastically. I could sense his confidence slipping away. “Don’t be so preoccupied with negativity.” I laughed to reassure him. Dresna grimaced as we removed the climbing lasers from our packs and attached them to the back of our hands, then added cram

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

He did not desert you, her inner romantic chastised. Good Lord, with all the voices in her head clamoring for attention and offering advice, her mother would’ve been better served naming her Sybil, rather than Skylar. Late morning was surprisingly cool for the beginning of September. Wispy white clouds covered the big Wyoming sky. The aroma of barbecue smoke and the occasional whiff of the barnyard overpowered the ever-present scent of sage.

As I look at my year in review, this author and book collection has been monumental in reigniting my hunger for reading. I can't track most of the books from this app easily for my year end count but in my heart this book means the most. I wish I could buy a printed version of each of these. .........

Only up to the first 3 stories...and I loved them! I wondered why the book was so big but it's broken down with several stories so when I get time, I'll read them accordingly. Pretty well written/edited and certain to make you desire more than you can handle.

The Skies Cleared Before Our Wedding

The Skies Cleared Before Our Wedding

"I can change back! I can fix it." I offered a slow shake of my head. "Not every broken thing in this world can be repaired." My cab pulled up to the curb, and I reached out to pull the door open, sliding into the back seat. Tristan stood frozen outside the vehicle, suddenly reaching through the open window to thrust the premium designer shopping bag toward me. "It's raining." I cast a brief glance out the window. The sky had indeed turned incredibly dark and overcast, but the first drops of rain hadn't even begun to fall yet.

A Sky Full of Absence

A Sky Full of Absence

I took off for the wild yonder, gazing up at the Milky Way sprawled across the night sky. It was my son's dream. He was a stargazer, an astronomy buff since he was knee-high. On his birthday, he saw his first meteor shower in the wild. Tragically, that same night became his last. I was determined to make his dream come true. The divorce papers, signed by Elias, landed in my mailbox. Maybe it was guilt, but he rewrote the terms, leaving me with a lion's share of our assets. I took it all without batting an eye.

When The Sky Falls

When The Sky Falls

Zayden jerked his head up A car was stopped right in front of him. He tried to swerve, but the wet, icy road betrayed him. The tires lost grip. The steering wheel spun under his hands. The vehicle skidded across the slick pavement Then everything flipped. Metal screamed. Glass shattered. The world turned upside down. And then... Silence. Cold. Dark. The snow outside continued falling, calm and steady… as his crumpled car lay still on the side of the road. *****

SANTA BABY... I'M FINALLY HOME

SANTA BABY... I'M FINALLY HOME

A blast of cold air cut through her sweats and the thermal underwear beneath. Shit, shit, and, once again, shit! She’d forgotten how damn cold Montana could get this time of the year. She hurried across the porch but stopped a few feet from the man on the railing. His leather jacket rode up as he worked. And his stomach... ‘Darwin…?’ she thought, thinking of the male character of the love novel she was reading. ‘Oh, Star, get a hold of yourself!’ She swallowed hard. ‘Dear Lord, what a fantastic view…’

Blindside Beauty

Blindside Beauty

The Montana sky was a cathedral of blue and gold, the mountains still crowned with snow. The wedding lodge outside Dillon was alive with energy, laughter, and the kind of nerves that only come when everything is about to change. For one weekend, the Cannibals and Wolves—rivals, friends, family—had gathered to witness a union that felt like the closing of one era and the uncertain, trembling start of another.

Alpha Dane

Alpha Dane

I asked. She stood up and extended her hand toward me. "It's better if you don't find out." I shook my head but accepted her help. "I worry sometimes about your sanity." I laughed, and she pushed me playfully. As we journeyed through the town, the sun was setting behind the mountains. Its radiance illuminated the sky with a stunning array of purple, pink, and orange hues that resembled an oil painting. I couldn't help but acknowledge that the skies in Idaho were far more beautiful than those at home.

The Alpha's Sentence

The Alpha's Sentence

Today, the world is buried. Snow stretches in every direction, packed deep and blindingly white. Drifts rise nearly to my waist, sculpted by wind into sharp ridges and smooth slopes, like the land itself has been rewritten overnight. Pines sag beneath the weight, branches bowed and heavy. The sky hangs low and pale, pressing down on everything beneath it. This isn’t the Montana I know. Or maybe it is, and I’ve just never been this far out. “How does that work?” I ask, biting down on my tongue to keep from yelping as snow swallows my bare thighs with every step behind him.
