I click on the header, causing the message to display. "Hello darling, how are you doing tonight. Wanted coming over to spend the night with you." Oh no! This is not what I expected, I thought he wanted to ask of me and how I'm doing. I have a lot of tasks and Chloe's release, I wouldn't be in the appropriate frame of mind to welcome him. I check when the message was sent, just now. I have to reply fast in case he has already prepared and is on his way.

“This is the message." I glared at the screen, the words registering before I could even finish reading. “Shipment NX043- delivery time 12:15- date 12/03/25. Everything was the opposite of how it was supposed to be. Above, was my number boldly written as the sender. “There has to be a mistake," I said, reaching out for my own phone.

Jane rose a brow at Nancy’s barrage of texts. “Are you home yet?” “Call me immediately you get home. This is huge.” Jane typed back even as the messages kept coming in. “What are you talking about?” Three dots appeared, then disappeared continuously. Then finally. “Girl, not over text. This is big news we’re talking about. The company announcement is you asked about is scheduled for Monday. I mean this coming MONDAY!”

"You can't carry her like that forever, can you?" After a little hesitation, she gave in and Mama left with Maryam but not without Esther tucking a few notes into Maryam's faded jean trouser pocket. May's phone binged signifying that she had received a text. The phone was passed to her and the text read, Dear temporary wife, don't you think we need to talk? The sender was Iby and so she looked up at him, who was already looking at her. They stared at each other briefly then was interrupted by Efua clearing her throat loudly on noticing their exchange.

End of message. Tomorrow morning? Don't we have our separate work tomorrow morning?
