Ben nodded. "If what we have read is true, they will sleep for three moons. " Ben said. He slid a book across the table as we all took a seat. It was a black leather book with veins on it. The title of the book read, "Book of Alacai" in bright red. I could smell the blood from the letters. "What is this?" I asked, looking up at Ben. " I asked dad to bring it.", Jordan said, taking the book away from me.

Books, not so much. Curiosity got the better of me. I turned to the first folded page and began to read. The heading leapt out at me: “Moonbound.” I scoffed. “What a joke,” I muttered. But the more I read, the less amusing it became. The words on the page described a rare, mythical wolf bound directly to the Moon Goddess herself. What nonsense? No such things exist. I have never heard of it at least. A map accompanied the text, and my eyes locked on the highlighted lake at the outskirts of the territory. My pulse quickened.

Black gems encrusted the moon, making it beautiful in an eerie kind of way. “It’s so pretty,” Aisling murmured; the gems caught the light that crept through the window. As soon as I touched the moon, it was like my hands had a mind of their own. I picked up the moon and pushed it into the indention on the book. A distinct click emanated from the book. I pressed two fingers to the moon and turned it counterclockwise until the latch on the book was removable. “Brigid! Aisling!” I heard Papa calling from downstairs, but I couldn’t stop.
