Three Alphas, One Luna
I needed magic.
I’d been studying some old alchemy notes when I found the recipe hinting at a “Moonroot Elixir,” said to draw out dark taint from soil or flesh. The instructions were incomplete, but better than nothing. I gathered a vial of Moonroot, silvery-blue herbs that only blossomed under a full moon, mixed with ground quartz, dragonfly wings, and a pinch of my own hair as a binding agent. The work was painstaking: precise measurements, careful stirring, hushed incantations beneath my breath.
As dawn warmed the room, the potion shimmered in the lantern light. I hesitated, handed it to one of the healers, Diane, who peered at it with wide eyes. “Are you sure?” she asked.
