“Yes. We walk from here. The cabin’s not too far.”
“But it’s raining!”
“Great observation,” Ryan deadpanned.
She frowned and stepped out of the car. In seconds, the rain soaked through her thin blouse and skirt. Her arms wrapped around herself.
“This is ridiculous,” she muttered as she tried to keep up.
Ryan stayed ahead, boots sloshing through the mud like he’d done this a hundred times. Irene, on the other hand, stumbled twice—once nearly slipping, and then again when her heel got stuck in the dirt.
