Two Can Play
Madam Lily appeared at the entrance, her apron gone, replaced by a fine dress I had never seen her wear, her face bright with a joy that made her look decades younger. She hurried over and dipped her head to Sparrow's grandmother.
"Everything is ready, ma'am. The officiant is in place. The guests are seated. We are only waiting on the bride and groom."
The old woman nodded. "And who is walking her down the aisle?"
Madam Lily's smile softened. "The bride's father is not present, ma'am. So I arranged for the groom to walk her in himself."
