However, she grabbed my wrist, and her gaze dropped to my forearm, where I had accidentally scraped myself earlier. Her eyes darkened slightly as the pad of her finger pressed against the wound, gently wiping away the thin line of blood. The icy touch made my whole body shiver. Then, the comments exploded again. [Ah! I ship them! The domineering zombie king and her scheming little husband!] [PC, be careful! If Ruth consumes blood, it might awaken her zombie instincts!]

His screams reverberated across the corridor, and we heard the sound of flesh getting ripped off bones. That did not last long. Silence returned soon after. … We burst out of the center's entrance, but the sight that greeted us made us inhale sharply. We were surrounded by a swarm of zombies. Hundreds of them, by the looks of it. It was nigh impossible to reach our vehicle like this. Unless… "I'll distract them! You guys run when you see an opening!" Determined, I shoved the sample into my deputy's arms and told him to get that back to base safely.

They’d even taken the precaution of arranging for a wet nurse in case she didn’t survive the process. At first, Kendra didn’t understand why they were so eager for the zombie cure, since they clearly lived in a world apart from the one she’d grown up in. Then, one day an alarm was raised to announce the fact that a zombie had wandered into the village. This was her first clue that, although there was a cloak to hide the visibility of the entrance/exit of the village, it didn’t seal it. Zombies – or humans – could find themselves inside the village without knowing how they got there.

Zara's p.o.v I woke up with an aching body and a sore throat. The side of my neck was slightly hurting and my knee felt the same. "Where am I?" I asked myself silently then turned to face the other side. When I came face to face with a creepy head looking at me.I screamed loudly and moved backwards falling from the bed. The head was popping out of the mistress back while she slept!. It was terrifying and disgusting at the same time. It smirked as more of them popped out of her back with hands.

Inside it was a chunk of rotting meat that was soaked through with an extract that would lure zombies. Smiling softly, I said, "That's why you ran into zombies on the safest route." Clara began to tremble violently. Her mouth moved as she tried to say something. But in the next second, the zombies lunged at her again. They had their fill, so they took their time to savor her bit by bit.

We stood there for a moment, holding hands outside her dorm room door, preparing to face whatever supernatural bureaucracy awaited us inside. "Ready?" Ming asked. "Ready." She opened the door, and I got my first glimpse into the larger supernatural world that Ming belonged to. It was nothing like what I'd expected. And everything was about to change. [End of Chapter 12]
