I was eating like a pig, shovelling food down my throat as if I could force the change through sheer stubbornness, but Red stayed hidden. In a sudden burst of frustration, I slapped an enormous, absurd amount of peanut butter onto a sandwich. The thick paste oozed from the sides as I bit into it aggressively. I didn’t care. My trainer is making me do extra cardio to get rid of it.” I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Five pounds on Ella’s frame would be virtually invisible.
