I nodded. “What if the reason you’re gaining weight is because you are in fact pregnant and not just the weight gain. MAEVE POV I didn’t get it. I spent the last hour—maybe more—reading chapter after chapter in this pregnancy book, while Xaden busied himself with a pile of paperwork and a few phone calls to several dignitaries, but nothing I read bore any similarities to what I was experiencing. Fetal weight gain was not unheard of. Sizing nearly twice as much as he should have within the first month, however, was apparently an alien concept. Such weight gain didn’t normally happen until much later in the pregnancy.

I've gotta say I'm proud of myself. I wasn't always overweight. I've been in the normal BMI range the entire school years until I broke up with my boyfriend after graduation. From there on, I went into this steep line of climbing towards overweight in just three months that from a normal size 6, I went to size 12, sometimes 10 if I wear clothes fit to my body but mostly 12, because I like baggy clothes to hide my figure. So yeah, it's all because of that motherfucker. He didn't just broke my heart, he inspired me to eat crappy food -as crappy as him- that I swell everywhere with fat, making me gain kilos that I hadn't been able to lose until ten years later.

He hugged and kissed me on the cheeks as I smiled. "I love you, my best friend." I giggled. He didn't care about my ugly self or anything. He looks at the inside of me which he adores. "I will help you in reducing your weight." He paused as he scratched his chin thoughtfully as his nose scrunched cutely and said, "When you reduce your weight, I will miss this chubby one having all for myself." He pouted as I let out a laugh. It feels nice when someone understands your pain. Broken people understand the pain of broken people.

That was because I knew she wasn't truly seeking forgiveness. She had made another deal with the system. All she needed was for me to say I didn't blame her or that I wasn't angry anymore, and she'd be able to swap our weights again in an instant. I also learned that our weights couldn't be changed once the system locked in a new body weight. That meant she would never gain her weight back, no matter how much she ate. She would be stuck looking like a half-starved, barely human stick figure forever. The thought almost made me smile.

With her appetite back, the title seemed like it was already in her pocket. Soon, competition day arrived. When Selina saw me, she froze. Her eyes quickly scanned the bead on my wrist before she blurted out, "Why haven't you gained any weight?" I raised an eyebrow at her. "Can't help it. I just don't gain weight easily." Her brow furrowed as she muttered continuously under her breath. "Impossible. Are there really people who don't gain weight..." Watching her question her entire existence, I smiled faintly. Of course there were not. Fat did not disappear. It was only transferred.

I almost told her, “I don’t blame you anymore. Just leave, and don’t come back.” But the tabby’s voice stopped me cold. “Sigh. Don’t be fooled by how hard she’s apologizing. This is all an act. She made a new deal with the system. As long as you say you forgive her or that you’re not mad anymore, she can instantly swap her weight with yours. “Sigh, what a clingy nightmare. Why is she so obsessed with targeting you? “But it makes sense. Once the system locks in a weight after the swap, it can’t be changed. No matter how much she eats, she’ll never gain it back. She’s stuck looking like this forever. No wonder she’s desperate to swap with you again.”

“Including losing weight again to escape the feelings?” “Yes.” She bit her lip. “That’s one of the things that I talk about with Rianna.
