*Lily* I tapped my pencil on the book consistently, breaking the profound silence that had settled over the weekend in my room. My phone kept buzzing with calls and texts from Adrian, but I ignored it, pretending to be deeply focused on the complicated biology stuff in the book, acting like I was really into it.

“Enzo, I can’t. I can’t even do a simple locator spell without messing up. An unlinking spell is beyond me.” I looked at her, pleading with my eyes. “Please, Lily.” She hesitated, biting her lip as she thought it over. Finally, she sighed and nodded. “I’ll try. But get me that book over there.” I didn’t waste any time. I grabbed the book from the shelf and handed it to her. She quickly flipped through it, finding the page she needed. When she looked up at Clara, her expression was tense. “You’re the vampire we were—”

She twirled the dagger between her fingers before tossing it into the air, catching it effortlessly. "Lily," I thought suddenly. I searched through the battlefield, my heart pounding. Lily had been taken, but I had lost sight of her in the chaos. Then, I saw her. She was fighting. Despite my order to stay hidden, Lily had broken free from her captors and was battling her way through the enemy lines. Her hands crackled with raw magic, lightning-like tendrils snapping at any rogue who dared approach her. Her eyes glowed an eerie silver, her power radiating in waves.

Lily was demanding more, greedy to fill her entirely and she sat up on all fours and pushed herself against me aggressively. “I need you Osiris” she moaned “all of you.” Her words made me let go and I started moving faster and harder, the slaps of my legs against her butt and our moans were filling the room. She moved her hand in between her legs, making herself come. “I need to see you” I said and Lily turned around.

asked Jisung in an excited tone. “That’s my favorite book!! I already read thrice I guess” said Lily cheerfully while jumping in excitement ‘Finally, I met someone with similar taste in books’ thought Lily happily. “Really? WOW!! I like the concept very much but what will happen to their relationship? Will she go back to her century? I am hell curious!! Can you give me some spoilers??” asked Jisung curiously. “For that you have to read the book completely. Let me give you a little spoiler” said Lily playfully.

I didn't protest when Remi volunteered to walk me home. But I felt a little disappointed that Lily didn't even reach out to me when I was leaving but I made her goodbye any way. Turns out she was staring at some mermaid pictures in her book. Like who buys mermaid books for children these days. Oh, that is so wrong.

Why did I remember the sensation I got when reading it and why, of all the books I had read, did I have to enter this one? While I was reading the book, I had thought of Lily as a pitiful person but I had read books that described abuse explicitly. Lily’s story started when she was in college so the author skipped the parts where they would normally show her slaving away for the pack and getting cursed at and beaten. Because of this, she was not a heroine that stood out to me. I was just eager to read the book because I had to see how love conquered all in the story.

Nestled among the other books on the massive shelf was a familiar spine that made my eyes widen. No way. I stepped closer to be sure, and I was right, it was The Phoenix Initiative by Lily Cooper. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest. There were only two copies of that book in existence. I had dreamed of owning one, of even catching a glimpse of one in real life. Lily Cooper wasn’t a mainstream author. Her books were considered too complex, too poetic, and too odd for popular taste. But to me, her words were sacred. I would have bled for a chance to read them.

I asked, trying to uncover every possible detail. “No one knows,” Lily replied. “Some say she died protecting the child, while others believe she’s still out there, keeping the child safe until the time is right for her to return.” I nodded at Lily, feeling a sudden need to be alone with my thoughts. "Can I be left alone for a bit?" I asked, my voice softer than usual. She nodded understandingly and quietly exited the library, leaving me in the serene silence of the room. Once she was gone, I eagerly reopened the book, my fingers trembling with anticipation. I flipped through the pages, hoping to piece together the fragmented story. The snippets of words and phrases I found were tantalizing,

"Lily, it's a nice thought but-" Lily had reached the final page of the book and her face dropped. "No, there has to be something!" "Maybe it is just a fairytale-" "Wait." Lily had let the last page of the book fall and she frowned, staring at the back leather cover. "I need a knife," she murmured to herself and searched her pockets, pulling out a small blade. She then gently sliced along the edge of the back cover, creating an opening. "Fuck me," she whispered and pulled out what looked like an old piece of parchment.
