My eyes burned. "Gone."

Something hot. Tears.

There was no way of stopping my hand as it shot up, pressing hard over my mouth as I tired to stifle the scream that tore it's way up my throat and passed my lips. The girl, staring back at me in the mirror, looked broken beyond repair. Hair twisted in knots, as if it had been caught out in the wind all day. My once nice purple long sleeve shirt and jeans now torn and crumpled, like each piece of clothing had been raked against tree after tree, shredding the fibers. Still, the one thing that my left eye couldn't look away from, was the blistering frost bite that ran across the other side of my face, where my once cool artic blue eye sparkled, mesmerising those in it's sight. Not only that, but I don’t want to get to where our entire family is destroyed. “P-please, listen to daddy…” I shook my head, but tears welled up in my eyes, which I wiped away. “No, dad, I can’t listen yet,” I said, turning away from him. “Scarlett—”

When I feel the blisters forming on my fingers, I drop the burning ball into the fireplace and watch it burn out. It turns to ash. Just like the last three weeks. Just like the future I thought I had. The smoke rises, thin and gray, stinging my eyes. I blink rapidly. My eyes burn, but they remain dry. Tears are a release I can’t afford. Tears imply that there’s something left to save, something to mourn. This is not mourning. This is an amputation. My hand hurts again. I unwrap the bandage the healer wrapped around it while I was unconscious. The cut is deep, a jagged line across my palm, running up to the edges of my new burn wound.

She sniffed. "Please!" I pleaded again as a single tear trickle down my eye. Geez! I can't believe a tear just came out of my eyes. I can't even remember the last time I saw my own tears. My mind flashed back to the guy I saw Diva with. So this is how bad it hurts...

“Did they get turned into vampires, too?” I shook my head, and the horribly familiar burning in my dried-out tear ducts settled in my eyes, creeping up simultaneously in my throat, and clutching at the back of my nose. I squeezed my lids shut, willing them to flood forth, but – as always – no tears came.

Her chest rises and fell before her eyes slowly closes. I suddenly feel like my fingers are burning and my head felt like it was breaking in half. I scream in pain as my tears blur my vision before I felt a burning sensation inside my eyeballs. My tears continue to fall when I look down I saw a small pool of water underneath my feet as clear as the blue skies. There I saw my once blue eyes slowly turning yellow before the burning sensation on my finger came back as a tattoo began to encircle it. My energy felt like it was draining before I stumbled down and fell face-first into the small pool of water beneath me.

Bronwen The alcohol stings my eyes, making me cry out. Especially in my bruised eye, which was already sore to begin with. I clutch my hand to my face, tears of pain filling my eyes as I try to blink rapidly to combat the stinging. “Ow. Shit.” “Babe, are you okay?” Suddenly Morana and Alec are by my side, with Morana gripping my face between her hands. “My eyes burn!” I tell her. Alec is inspecting me, but watching the guy and girl over my shoulder.

The room was filled with an intense silence, broken only by the echoes of his heavy panting. He stared at the bloodied knuckles, his mind drifted to her. The girl with those mesmerizing brown orbs, brimming with tears. He could see the pain and shattered trust reflected in her eyes, like a broken mirror reflecting a fractured soul. It was as if he could glimpse the depths of her hurt and betrayal, all encapsulated within those tear-filled eyes.
