"Well, finding a body in the marsh is. We are not a crime-free area, unfortunately, but those are usually drug-related. Someone tried to hide the body in that marsh. That hasn't happened before, that I know of."

"He didn’t hurt me." I pulled back and looked at the detective. "Why him? He’s five. He’s just a boy." "He’s not just a boy," Marsh said, his gaze curious and almost amused. "He pointed out three inconsistencies in the crime scene photos within a minute… no less than a minute. Then he asked me if our department’s firewall had a backdoor and many other questions. I’ve seen tech experts with fewer questions." I stared. Marsh shrugged. "He offered to help. I thought he was joking… until he showed me how Evan’s time of death looked a bit tricky and how the time of the call logs were inconsistent."

Chapter 2 It was around midnight and Marsh was sitting in the lounge waiting for Josh to come home. His previous anger was replaced with worry as he knew Josh had left the restaurant long ago and his mobile was powered off. He tried once again and once again it was connected to the voice mail. He racked his fingers in his hair, worried about Josh when suddenly he cursed and picked up his keys to rush outside. How could he forget? Thanks to the otherwise vacant roads, he sped up and in no time he reached the other corner of the city and parked in the basement of an apartment complex.

She let herself be pale, because Margaret had already given the room permission to see her that way. But she did not stop watching.
