The male dragon was a glorious shade of green and his female counterpart looked like a red-hot coal. Nurlan, who only bowed before his own rulers, dropped to one knee as he held up the baby. Something about their commanding presence caused him to avert his gaze from them. "Your Majesties," he uttered reverently, for he did not doubt that this is who these two dragons were. "I have found your son. The gnomes hid him in our treasure room. He is a treasure indeed, but I believe he belongs with you."

"The Prince has his own palace. In the North." My heart dropped. The North was a frozen waste and the land of endless winter. Mother opened her mouth again. “Will we be permitted to-” “We will return for the Princess shortly.” They cut her off smoothly. Before father could ask another question, the leader barked an order in the dragon tongue and the four warriors turned on their heels in unison, their capes snapping in the air. They marched out of the room, leaving the doors wide open behind them. They didn't stay to answer any other questions. They probably didn't even care about our confusion or our fear.

“We heard dragons. Castle. Molten lava. A hidden kingdom beyond the Outlands. You cannot expect us to stay here and rely on your terrible descriptions.” “My descriptions are fine,” I replied. Charles corrected, “They are not. You are too emotionally constipated to describe a fantasy kingdom properly.” Nyra laughed. I looked at her for support. She was no help at all. “As long as you are not frightened by dragons and molten lava, you are free to come,” Nyra told them. Malcolm grinned wider. “Excellent.” Charles looked at Spiro. “Do the dragons bite guests?” Spiro’s face did not move. “Not usually.” Charles paused. “Usually?” Nyra laughed again, and the sound made letting them come worth it.

’ I ask. I can’t assume. Dragons do have several animal enemies, one, in particular, loves the taste of dragon eggs – sneak-snakes. The huge snakes live in the areas where the dragons nest. I’m not sure if the dragons drew the sneak-snakes because of where they choose to nest, or if the area was already their home and it is just bad luck for the dragons. Either way, there are always sneak-snakes around the dragon nests. It’s another reason the silvers are standing sentinel. They won’t let the snakes get their queen. ‘Yes,’ Bymjym growls, blowing fire in his anger as we fly.

Elizabeth packs her beautiful blond hair in a ponytail as she widens her red ruby eyes as well in suspense. “Dragons!”Historia begins. “Those scary looking, regal gigantic birds, with ginormous bar-like wings and heads like huge lizards clustered with horns and impregnable scales. They have long bard tails like armored horses, and sharp-clawed teeth that can rip you apart and chew your bones. They spit out volcanic fire that can devour a whole city.

Miller’s voice trembled with concern. “Daran…” I whispered through my tears, watching the two dragonlings. “They’re turning into red dragons, somehow,” Daran explained, his face grim. “The dragons from the Blue Dragon realm—like these—they’re supposed to have their fire glands sealed. That’s why they’re usually calmer and gentler.” Grabbing Daran’s cloak tightly, I stared into his eyes. “Daran, they can still go home! They’re angry because they just want to go back! They have a place to go back to!” I said, my voice filled with emotion.

My expectations of hefty magic tomes full of spells were quickly dashed. Laney’s idea of books was limited to fairy tales about princesses and knights and, of course, magic.
