Her voice was soft, smooth, completely at odds with the devilish glint in her eyes.
“My job’s simple. I get to mop the floor with all of you.”
She said it so kindly it took a second to register.
Nyomei gave a nervous laugh. “She’s joking, right?”
“She’s not joking,” Brand muttered, eyes wide.
“Match commencing,” the system announced, cutting off our chatter. “Today’s format: Tag.”
That got a few raised brows.
“Tag?” I repeated.
“We’re seriously doing playground games?” Orin asked.
“Each of you will wear a vest,” the system continued. “A light-sensitive plate is attached to the back. If Lysar touches your plate, you are out. If any of you manage to tag hers, she is out.”
