I glare at her. “It’s my period. It’s horrible.”
“Let’s get you something to eat before you faint,” she suggests and begins to drag me to the food counter. “Oh, there are cupcakes!”
A wave of nausea washes over me. I wave my hand, bringing the other to cover my mouth. “No, not cupcakes.”
Confusion crosses her face, which is not surprising. “I’ve never heard you say no to cupcakes.” Then out of nowhere, her eyes widen, and she grabs my arm pulling me aside. Her voice drops to a whisper, “Natalie… are you—”
