“My shoes are going to get dirty. Oh, god, I hope I didn’t get a run in my pantyhose.” Nick looked down at her legs as they walked. “Not that I can tell,” he said in a deep tone. Jackie stopped walking. “All right. What will it take for you to release my Mustang?” Nick turned to her. “Look at me.” She did. “Take those wretched glasses off,” Nick said and reached for the glasses. “Wretched? Those are Chanel,” she said defensively. “I want to see your face without accessories,” he said and palmed the glasses. “Now, tell me about this . . . power brunch.”

“Is that so? Well, it’s a pretty lame excuse for a story don’t you have more interesting things to report on?” “Sure, plenty but he is the golden boy of the NHL, he’s a legend and it’s good feed for us.” Nick doesn’t budge, he’s kind of tall, taller than me but not as tall as Alex, he’s slender built but his T-shirt show that he does work out just not like a demon. “I’m not sure, we’re kind of private to be honest, Nick. We’re still a fresh couple and we don’t want the press in our faces too much.”

The door opened and Kathy came in with her lunch. “C’mon, eat up, Brooklyn. It’s well past lunchtime. I thought you were sleeping, so I didn’t disturb you,” said Kathy. Brooklyn nodded as she sat down to eat. “Has Nikolas returned from work?” she asked as a blush stained her cheeks at the mention of his name. Kathy shook her head looking surprised. “Sir has left for his Winery at Yakima, Washington, this morning. Has he not informed you?” she asked incredulously. Brooklyn gaped at her, her eyes wide with shock. Nikolas had left? Why hadn’t he informed her? She slowly shook her head.

With his mouth filled with food, he shifted his lips a little, giving me a slight smile—and so did I. “Ever had a point deducted from your license?” Nick asked. “For that? Impossible,” Rabel replied. “Nick doesn’t smoke,” Mr. Leister said. “He’s an athlete. Surfing champion, right?” Rabel asked Nick, smiling. “Yes, surfing,” Nick replied, also smiling.

“It helps with concussions.” I blinked, caught off guard by the gesture. He didn’t wait for a response, turning on his heel as though his duty was done. But I wasn’t about to let him off that easily. “Nicholas,” I called, my voice firm despite the ache in my head. He paused, his hand on the doorknob, but didn’t look back. “What is Nesa Caistro?”

Nicholas It’s been a few days since our visit with Grammy Mary, who insisted that I call her Grammy. She’s been working with Kenz on how to control her emotions, so she can better control her powers. So far, it seems to be working. While they were busy working, I was in my office with Mason and Erik while Cash was on video call. She snapped. “Rina Mackenzie. Does that name ring a bell?” Her smile remained, but her eyes……her eyes totally betrayed her. “I have no idea who that is” I stood up and buried my hands in my pocket. “The hell you don't. I got my answer”

Absolutely. I watched as Nick began his pole assembly. His dark brown hair ruffled in the light breeze and his face held a total look of concentration, with striking blue eyes that focused on the task at hand. He had a short strong nose with a matching jaw and chin. His complexion was also a nice tan. At a towering six foot one, he was one of the biggest in our pack. He was also one of the strongest. His opinions held a lot of weight withing the pack, of course it also didn’t hurt that his father was our Alpha, Galan.
