He looked away, and coughed out blood. “What if…” he whispered and stopped talking. I swallowed, already panicking. Did he know? Had he been suspecting I had a pup? Would he really have killed me? That’s not normal.” Nuella shrugged, “At least now we know there’s a reason why you’re being abducted.” Claude sighed, “We’re still stuck here though.” Just then the door fell open and light poured into the room. Vladimir stepped in in all his evil glory, signature smirk and all. “Sleeping beauty is awake, isn’t she?” He said to Nuella who only looked away. “Guess she’ll finally get to watch.” He grinned and Claude saw the raw fear in Nuella’s eyes.

Nicolai sipped, as though to give himself time to think through the words he would use to introduce us to the reason he called us here. “As I mentioned, I need to venture to my South Side Compound to acquire something of great value. The enemies we will meet on our way will be easily identified by glowing white marks on their foreheads. They look like this.” Nicolai held up a piece of paper with a symbol drawn on it. To me, it looked like three stars forming a triangle. Whether it was meant to be something else I couldn’t say, but the mark wasn’t at all familiar. “Your orders are to kill them on sight.” He paused, making sure every wolf in front of him was paying close attention.

Not long after, a voice, deep, husky and scary, could be heard through the ball.

I cowered behind a log, watching in hypnotic disgust. Both men were dead within five seconds. Nikolai’s wolf was a truly terrifying beast as he snapped necks and ripped the heads from their bodies. Prowling the remains of his victory he caught sight of the man whose face I had clawed. Growling he prepared himself to launch once more. We need witnesses, we need people we can interrogate, by whatever means necessary. Bolting out of my hiding place I charged forward. Using my puny weight I barrelled into his warm furry chest.

Voss swallowed hard, his eyes darting to Alden before shaking his head quickly, “No. I don’t know any Victor.” Alden tilted his head slightly, observing him like a predator watching its prey. I could see the nervous tic in Voss’s jaw, the way he shifted uncomfortably under their scrutiny. He was telling the truth, at least about that. Vasquez narrowed his eyes but didn’t press further. Instead, he swiped through his phone again before turning the screen toward Voss. “What about them?” Displayed on the screen were clear images of Helena and Selene. Voss barely glanced at them before shaking his head, “Never seen them before in my life.”
