“This is Nico, right? Is he a model? I assumed he is an old man.” The man who seems to be Nico curls his lips into an amused smile that radiates confidence. “Oh, I guess you understand attractiveness better than my friend here,” he says, sitting with us at the table. “Don’t feed his ego, Cassie,” Liam warns. “I’m Nico,” the attractive man introduces himself, offering his hand to me. “A fashion model.” I shake it and he holds my hand a little too long–making me notice he has deep brown eyes which make him look as if he is always thinking of mischief.

Nico has always been someone to look after the less fortunate. Growing up Nico would insist on buying Christmas gifts and taking them to the hospitals to sick kids and to lesser fortune areas where gifts were a dream. Nico has always had a big heart for helping others even if he hides it under his tough, mafia man personality. While Nico might be a caring soul he can be equally cruel where it matters. Nico loves to punish those for their sins but I think Anthony might love it a bit more. Anthony is his own dark soul. I haven’t fully figured out what tortures him exactly, but part of me wonders if I ever will. Anthony is open with us, but there is a darker side he keeps hidden from me perhaps

“What I don’t know are the details beneath the surface. And that’s what I want from you.” He leaned against the counter, fingers drumming lazily, amusement flickering in his eyes. “Straight to the point. Always. Cold as marble, but you know…” he tilted his head, smirking, “…I think I like you better that way. Cuts sharper than a smile.” I ignored the bait. “If you can tell me who the Russian boss is, the one Marcini was dealing with, I’m willing to get down on my knees for it.” Nico stilled for a moment, then let out a low, delighted laugh. “Now that,” he said, voice thick with mock reverence, “is an image worth chasing. I can't stand his type. "The ice cream is mine. End of discussion." I turn around. I'm set on ignoring the guy, but one of the girls speaks in a baby voice, and it's hard not to listen. "Oh, Robin... Your arms are wonderfully thick, and you know I have a fetish for big biceps. Have you been working out for my sake?" "You know it, babe." So his name is Robin, and he is the type to give every girl a nickname? Ugh. I roll my eyes in disgust. Can't this line move any quicker? I want to get the hell out of this store...

As much as I wanted to ask the exact same thing, I couldn't do without opposing him. “ You guys worry for nothing. They taste equally as good, ” Ryan assured with a smile. “ It better,” Nico said, remaining the picky eater that he is. “ You're one shameless bum, aren't you?” Miro folded his arms. “ And you're one unbothered friend,” He was quick with a comeback. “ You're the one who invited me over, so why do I have to do anything? Shouldn't you be the one serving me?” Nico was intentionally provoking Miro. It was a habit of his to provoke everyone.

I learned long ago that pushing too hard only made Nico retreat further. After a few seconds, Nico spoke. “I don’t like her.” I didn’t need clarification. The name hovered between us anyway. I exhaled slowly. “Gabriella?” Nico nodded, his eyes still downcast. His fingers fondled at the hem of his shirt, twisting the fabric until it creased. “She’s loud,” Nico said. “And she talks like…” He trailed off, frowning, searching for the right words. “Like she doesn’t see people.”

I brushed his last words away, I was more curious to know about Robin’s past. "That isn't my story to tell Ivana, I don't know much about that, the only thing I know is that Robin is a kid that hides in his shell, a person who craves affection but his heart is so cold, because it has been hurt before." Hinn Carlos was speaking in riddles, I don’t understand what he was saying. Does it mean he doesn't know or he does not want to tell me about it?

Laughed. My jaw clenched until I heard the pop of bone. “You shouldn’t stare like that,” Cooper murmured behind me, quiet but close. “Someone might think you care.” I didn’t turn around. “She’s relaxed,” he added after a beat. “With him.” That was the problem. Nico wasn’t a threat in the traditional sense. Not someone I had to track. But he was a Morano. Charismatic, untethered. Too much like the man I used to be before I learned how costly feelings were.

I said, feeling a warm feeling inside. Nico then asked me about my hobbies and interests, and I shared my love for reading and traveling. He then shared that he became a lawyer after finishing his studies and was now living with his mother. He also talked about how he and Anna grew up together, sharing good memories despite their poor backgrounds. “Anna was the kindest and pure soul girl I ever met. She's so beautiful, so kind, and very loving,” Nico said, with a hint of sadness in his voice. “I can't believe she's gone.”

Rob was always the best one with explosives amongst my men, he always regarded them as his babies. "Look at him grinning like a fucking psychopath" Jamie says from beside me in the car. "It's what he does best, what do you expect" Nico was calling him but Rob seems not to be hearing him. "The Truck is already on the way, idiot. Do you plan to get blown alongside it?" Nico screamed at him but Rob only gave him a middle finger. "I swear if you get blown up, I'll hook up with your girlfriend" Nico threatened and that got Rob's attention. He gave Nico a murderous look.
