I expected him to create a scene, to tell the whole crowd about how I was just under him last night, but then he did what I did not expect at all. He smirked. A slow and cruel one. The pedestal hummed to life pulsing with a deep, rhythmic amber glow that matched her heartbeat. Across the subterranean vault, the runes carved into the remaining stone pillars began to flare to life, casting long sharp shadows against the dust filled air.
