“Please, stop looking like her.” Nyxara tilts her head, studying me with my mother’s face. “But it’s always worked before.” Rage flares hot and bright in my chest. “Not this time.” Something ugly flashes in her eyes. The air snaps. Nyxara lifts one delicate finger and flicks it downward. The arena answers. The floor splits open with a wet, tearing sound, and the darkness beneath it moves. Nightmares crawl up through the cracks, dozens of them, hundreds, dragging themselves into the light like puppets yanked forward by invisible strings.

“For some, I guess I would. Sweetheart, this is not something I would want to bring you into, but I have no other choice.” “I get that. Always trying to protect me. However, this time I think I need to know so I can help you. Something is clearly bothering you.” She said as she looked into the golden pools of his eyes, and she almost forgot why he was there. She had to shake her head, and she knew she could not get distracted by his eyes and the wonders contained in them. “This is not something that is normal, either.” He stated as he looked at her. “A nightmare.”

Granger dives out of the way, his arms clasped around me and Amanda as the floor caves in, and the castle falls in on itself. We land in the hallway. Pain radiates up my legs from the hard landing. The castle is crumbling on either side of us, the entire building full of screams of desperation and absolute terror. But a voice cuts through the chaos, lifted and musical. I look up and see her standing there–that mystic from the night of the eclipse, her face shielded by a mask made entirely of crystal. “Hurry, sister!” she beckons, and three more masked mystics appear behind her. “Is it just me, or does the sky look… wrong?” Nora didn’t answer at first. The horizon pulsed, bending at the edges. Forests flickered, whole groves appearing, disappearing, and then reforming somewhere else. The valley below rippled like water. “It’s not just you,” Nora said finally. “Reality’s folding.” Grayson muttered a curse. “So Kael’s rewrite” “Didn’t stabilize,” she said softly. “The Rift didn’t just remember peace. It reminded me of the possibility.”

The floor vanished under me. One second I stood in the packhouse surrounded by wolves and frost and Marek’s shaking arms. The next, the glowing cracks beneath my feet tore open completely, splitting into a perfect circle of blinding blue light. Gravity twisted sideways. My stomach lurched. The world tilted. And I fell. Snow and shards of ice spiraled upward as I dropped into the swirling light. I heard someone scream my name. Multiple someones. But one voice cut through all the others.

I fell through the air for a second before my knees caught on to a string. Okay, so I might have woven actual string throughout the fall so I never actually fall to my death. I might be emotionless, but I don't want to die either. I glanced up from my upside-down position to where the Nightmare Master should be. “How was that?” I hadn't heard the nightmare Master take a step forward, so he was still hiding in the shadows, not at all afraid I would die. Or he just didn't care. I mean, me falling to my death wouldn't be a breach of our contract. I think the reason he didn't get too close was because he was afraid that if he got too close, I could see his strings without even trying. I didn't b

I motioned to the others and we surround her so she had no where to run. "STOP! You can't do this to me!" Layla cried as she fell to her knees. "Watch us." Skye snarled and they continued to chant. I could feel power swirl around and looked over to see Tommy holding Cerridwens body. ( Kitty's Grandma) A whisp of smoke flew out of Layla and settled over Cerridwens body. Tommy looked alarmed but didn't move as the smoke seemed to land on the body and disappear.

I thought random sex was all I needed, but I was so wrong it’s almost funny. I close my eyes, allowing my body to relax as Grace’s breathing becomes heavier while she goes back to sleep. I don’t know how long it took me to sleep, but when I do, the nightmares come back crashing. The scream leaves Grace’s mouth with the terror on her face while her mother is dead on the floor. Her eyes blame me while she falls on her knees, crying over her dead mother’s body.

I pushed it open silently and entered. It was everything I had expected. The exact opposite of my room. The themes here were black and grey. Black furniture, grey walls, grey and white beddings. The air conditioning was off, but it was so damn cold in here, the air so tight I could hardly breathe. Or it was just the fact that I knew my presence here was wrong. It was much bigger than my room, obviously. And I liked it. I was someone who suffered from nightmares, but paradoxically, the darkness here, was calming.

NOELLE'S POV, When the vortex spits me out, I land on the ground with a hard thud. My body hurts everywhere from the impact of the fall. I cough and slowly sit up to look around me. The Under Realm is everything I expected it to be. As far as the eye can see there is a black and red wasteland of rocks and what seems to be lava. There are volcanoes, big steep black mountains, and strange rock formations. In the rocks, there are faces sculpted with terrified expressions. But what creeps me out the most are the bones laying everywhere.
