Nightmares crawl up through the cracks, dozens of them, hundreds, dragging themselves into the light like puppets yanked forward by invisible strings. They don’t rush. They inch forward little by little. Their limbs jerk unnaturally. Heads loll at impossible angles. Mouths open and close soundlessly, as if screaming behind glass. My Nightmare Natty's POV It was morning already and last night was a long night. I never knew he was that insatiable.I lot count as to how many times we did it. Thinking about it, I smiled. I looked over to him and smiled more. He was still sleeping like a baby. I tried standing up but I felt pain in my thighs. I tried again but I just groaned. I started wondering through the brush, not knowing where I was going or where I even came from, fear coursing through me like I was going to die. My voice sounded hoarse and scratchy as it crawled up my throat. “Shh, don't speak,” Nathan whispered and moved to the foot of the bed. I shook my head. I wished more than anything that what I witnessed was not real. The visions of the night came back. The fight with the vampires, my brothers, Dimitri, the dead wolves, Sampson. I remembered the fear that traveled through my body as I was chased into the woods. I remembered seeing my brother through the smoke of a fire my best friend had set. And I remembered nearly mauling my brother to death.

Not until the very end and sometimes even then I wasn't done. The perspiration was heavy on my forehead and I wiped it away with my palm, frowning at the sluggish movement of my arm and the way the room seemed to fade in and out. The lights flared overhead and I was blinded temporarily, stumbling into someone on my left, kept buoyant only by the proximity of bodies. Feeling a shove from behind, I turned to see who the fuck would dare to push me. The face that greeted me twisted into a molten mass of flesh, pulled tight over bone. White, colourless eyes stared at me. A mouth full of long razor sharp teeth turned upwards in an awful, nightmarish grin.
