I had no sense of direction. Even after five years on Avenmore Island, I still could not tell north from south. Isaac Norwood always set up my GPS ahead of time. He said he would guide me for the rest of my life. On our wedding day, the bridal car reached Summit Pass Road when he suddenly said the bouquet had been left in the trunk. The moment I stepped out, the car door clicked shut behind me and locked. I saw the driver glance at Isaac through the rearview mirror, like he had known all along. The next second, the motorcade disappeared into the fog. Isaac sent me a voice message. "Walk 999 steps forward and you'll hit a fork in the road. Sabrina says you can't even find the ceremony hal

The kind willing to kidnap a nineteen-year-old girl. The kind willing to send messages. As if summoned by the thought, Killian's phone buzzed again. Both of them froze. The vibration seemed to pierce through the silence of the room. Killian looked down. A text message. Unknown number. The moment he opened it, color vanished from his face. Aubrey's pulse quickened. Something was wrong. Very wrong. "What is it?" No answer. Killian stared at the screen. His eyes became impossibly cold.

He shook his head, "go ahead, pack, we'll go to a clothing store first." "Okay." Nikki, you are nine hundred thousand steps closer to being a millionaire. I did a mental victory dance and stood to my feet to do as he had said.

I still remember how loving we were the first year we were together, but everything changed when her childhood crush returned from overseas. She kept her distance from me for no reason and would constantly test my love for her. Rina even said that I had to pass 99 tests of true love before I could marry her. The last time I had to go through one of her tests, she told me to attend a welcome party for Eugene in the middle of the night, but when I got to the door, a full bucket of flour was poured all over me. Eugene was holding the bucket of flour while saying in a pitiful manner, "I poured the flour on you, Micah. You aren't mad at me, are you? I just wanted to make this a fun party for ever

The entries read, "Mom and Dad came back from their business trip and bought me and Annie new clothes, but they got my size wrong. It was too small. My arms and legs were sticking out, and all my classmates laughed at me. I felt so sad." "Today is our birthday. Mom and Dad sent me to the flower shop to get the flowers, but they forgot I was allergic to lilies. My whole body turned red and broke out in rashes. It was so uncomfortable." "Annie's birthday cake is delicious, but why do they always forget that it's also my birthday too? I even reminded them the day before. I'm so upset." In the dream, the journal wasn't just filled with whole numbers. There were many decimals in between. And in t

“About what we hold until people are ready.” She held his gaze. “We hold it,” she said. “Yes,” he said. “All of us,” she said. “The table holds it.” “Yes,” he said. She put her hand on the kitchen table. He put his beside it. The warmth. The specific warmth. “Nine years,” she said. “Nine years,” he said. “A lot happens in nine years,” she said. “Yes,” he said. “We’ll be ready,” she said. “We will,” he said.

He swallowed the rage he felt simmering at the base of his throat. "You are indecent," Nine said. "Partially undressed." "Not for the purpose of sex, I assure you." The look on her face suggested she didn't believe him, but she didn't demand an explanation. He clenched his jaw, not about to give her one either...but he didn't want her to think less of him. "We went to the theatre." "I don't know what that is." "Lucky you. It's a bunch of performers, singers, and dancers." He waved his hand, bored. "It's not my thing, but Charlotte likes it."

The dim lighting only accentuated how suggestive the scene looked… Regardless, the gif consisted of nine, square grid photos, and every shot seemed to portray great romance and intimacy between the two…

the bedroom door opened without a knock. Both of them walked in. Elias-1 carried two mugs of coffee. Nine carried the pomegranate from the hallway floor, now washed clean, seeds glistening like tiny rubies in a bowl. They moved like they’d rehearsed it, one on each side of the bed. Elias-1 set a mug on her nightstand. Nine placed the bowl in her lap. “We made a deal,” Elias-1 said, voice gravel-rough from exhaustion. Nine finished, “No fighting. No forcing you to choose. Not yet.”

Finn didn’t need to look to know what they were—the ninety-nine divorce agreements he’d thrown at me. In truth, the ninety-ninth wasn't much different from the first—same words, same tone, same indifference. The only things that changed were the date—and the 99th one carried my signature. Finn's vision blurred as he stumbled, crashing into a trash can. Michael, startled, ran forward and grabbed his sleeve. I glanced at them once, then turned away with my suitcase in hand.
