The brother of Hel herself.” He chuckles and shakes his head. “Well, that’s the myth. But no, have you heard about the Moon Goddess, Selene?” Yes, I have. Nodding my head. I’m not lying. I’ve read books about werewolves and their deity, Selene. “Well, Fenrir is the twin brother of Selene. Now he isn’t the hound of hell. He is the God of hell. The Harbinger of Death.” Why is he telling me this?

I smile at the intrigue on their faces, and I continue "Legend has it that when Zeus was offered a banquet prepared from the remains of a sacrificial kid, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, enraged the god. Zeus, who was furious, punished Lycaon by turning him and his sons into wolves. Early Norse folklore also introduced werewolves. A father and son found wolf pelts that could transform people into wolves for ten days, according to the Saga of the Volsungs. The father and son team put on the pelts, changed into wolves, and then went on a murderous rampage in the woods. When the father struck his son and fatally wounded him, their rampage came to a stop. Only because a friendly crow offered the fa

“We would not want Rán to collect our drowned bodies in her net.” “Tell me again why Astrid is leaving us now?” Miriam was lying close to Ketil, revelling in his warmth and the arm curled about her shoulders. Her feet were frozen and she rubbed them against him, provoking a response. “By Hel, you are cold!” he exclaimed, referring to the Norse goddess of the dead. “Is King Harald so frightening?” He told her then the little he knew. “She will be back for the birth of our son, my love.”

My cries echoed off the wooden beams, mixing with the crackle of the fire and the low, approving growls of my conquerors. Hours later, as the fire burned low and cast a soft, intimate glow, they held me nestled between their powerful bodies on the furs. Ragnar’s broad chest served as my pillow, Thorsten’s arm draped possessively over my waist, and Bjorn’s fingers traced lazy patterns along my spine. In these quieter moments, stories flowed freely. They spoke of legendary raids, the favor of the gods, and the loneliness of leadership in their harsh northern world. I shared tales of my Saxon home, the strength of the women who defended it, and the grief of losing my father in battle.

Her heart pounded. The creatures were nothing like the beasts she had encountered before. Their limbs were too long. Their bodies twisted unnaturally beneath pale, stretched skin. And those eyes... Cloudy. Milky white. Sightless, orb-like eyes that had lived for centuries in the lightless depths of the Abyss. They couldn't see her. They sensed her. One of them sprang toward her, guided by the faint heat of her pulse. Nysera raised her hand instinctively. “Fire!”

“Because in the last book, my therapeutic killing of him was so macabre they made me remove it and fix it.” Cruz’s brows which were meeting in the middle now jacked up high on his forehead. “I know you said you killed him off in every book. Which character was he in this one? I couldn’t pinpoint him.” “Did you know the name Odin, which stems from the Norse God mythology, has many different names in Old Norse mythology? I always make it a minor character, but I always use one variation of his name. In this book he was Bǫlverkr. It means evil doer.”

“That depends on which realm you’d like to discuss.” Jessica shook her head. “Vanaheim.” “Before or after Ragnarök?” “I get it, you’re a nerd.” Malachi smiled and saw the ends of her mouth turn up into a small smile. “Vanaheim was the home of the Vanir gods, Njord, Freya and Freyr. It’s the realm of magic, predictions, prophecies, and sorcery. It’s where most witches choose to go after they die.” “Good to know you’re not just a pretty face, Malachi.”
