I could feel the heat radiating off her skin, I could see the disbelief flickering in her dark eyes as she stared at me. I didn’t move. I didn’t blink. Instead, I reached into my pocket, my fingers brushing against the folded note I had written earlier. I had hesitated before, unsure if I could truly follow through with this plan. But now, standing here with Nina’s piercing gaze locked onto mine, I knew there was no turning back. I pulled out the note and held it out to her. For a moment, Nina didn’t react. She just looked at it. Her expression was unreadable at first, but then, as if something inside her cracked, she exhaled sharply and took the note from my hands.
