Approaching her, touching her shoulder softly asked, "Are you okay?" Daisy Nguyen just wanted the scent of that perfume to quickly get out of the range of her nose that she could inhale. “She nodded. Signing I'm fine." Oh, it turned out to be a mute girl. The flight attendant thought, couldn't help anything but feel a bit resentful. The man beside her with a glance immediately returned to his original position. In his hand, there was a file of documents that needed to be processed. The flight journey of more than ten hours went quite smoothly. Healthy people eat and drink as usual.

He opened it. "I want to read you something," he said. Ernest looked at him. Don did not usually read from the notebook. The notebook was private — not private-from-Ernest in the old sense, but private in the way of a personal record that was primarily for the self and only occasionally offered to another.

She just left me a note. “What note?” I ask. Jonathan opens the drawer of the table and takes out a piece of paper. He hands it over to me. As I open it, he walks towards the other side of the room where he kept his vodka. He opens it up and starts drinking. I unfold the paper and start reading what Elena had written on it.

How could it be him? “There’s a note.” Devon picked up a yellow piece of paper, and I rushed over to him. I leaned closer. “Who is J?” He held the note just as he read the ‘From J’ at the top, about to open it. “I… I’m not sure.” I grabbed it from him, my pulse skipping. “Open it. Let’s see.” Devon looked curious, maybe even a little jealous. “I’ll read it after I catch up on some work.” I tossed the note into a desk drawer.

Then the door closed. I looked up. The note was under the edge of my water glass. Small. Folded once. Heavy cream cardstock, the same weight and color as the contract rider from the first night. I had not looked away from my desk from the moment the door opened to the moment it closed. I had been looking at the desk the entire time, my eyes on the script, my peripheral vision covering the rest of the room. I sat very still for three full seconds. Then I picked it up and unfolded it.
