The chains respond instantly. They hum — soft, metallic, aware. Moon-forged. Alive. Each link adjusts against my wrists and ankles, tightening just enough to remind me that resistance has already been measured… and accepted. The word slips into my mind without permission. Accepted. My stomach twists. These chains are not punishing me. They are studying me. Preparing me. A faint vibration travels through the floor, so subtle I almost think I imagined it. Dust shifts near the far wall. Shadows flicker, though nothing moves to create them.

She tried to run away until she found herself chained to the alpha king. He throws me inside the dark room. I could only feel hatred and fear. “Get me out of here, Damon!” I screamed. He walked close to me and lifted my chin to meet his cold brown eyes. “No, you won't, Athena.” He said darkly and with his strength, I felt the cold chains locking my ankle. The person bound with them is incapable of escaping. Once they try escaping, the chains will burn through their skin. The person will be paralyzed in pain and will be unable to escape. They are made from the purest of silver and are very rare. Only a few people can use them." Melody explained, her voice tinged with so much seriousness that I gasped.

“I’ll tear him apart with my bare hands.” “You’re an idiot,” Coby shot back, his tone dripping with disdain. “Those chains are laced with wolfbane and silver. The more you fight, the more they’ll poison you. You’ll be dead before you even get the chance to see Ross.” I gritted my teeth, the burning sensation in my wrists intensifying with every movement. He was right, damn him. The chains were designed to weaken us, to keep us docile. But docile wasn’t in my nature. Not when my family was in danger.

I stepped closer.
