There was a guard shack, and man in uniform stepped out to greet us. Dad rolled down the window on the driver's side, and the guard lowered him self to peer in with a smile on his face. "Good evening your majesty! Go on in, the other alphas have already arrived. Stay on the main road that runs through the center of the pack housing. At the top of the hill you will see the Alpha Marcus's mansion."

The horse slowly continued down the road, sensing that something isn`t right. When they reached the hill, the merchant knew exactly what it was. The remains of camp or a battle, he wasn`t sure…nor did he wanted to know. He turned, mounted his horse and went into the other direction. The Long Road, they call it. It certainly earned that name. "The roads..." He whispered. "They're coming back by themselves." Hope looked more closely. He was right. No one was building these new roads. No lantern was guiding them. No ancient magic was restoring them. People were traveling. Writing letters. Sharing seeds. Telling stories. Helping strangers. The roads were growing because hearts had remained connected.

Reasonable honestly. Then nobody answered. Because the answer was obvious. The symbols described something called: The Four Roads. Ancient paths leading to forgotten places. It reminded me of years ago, when his startup had failed, and he stood downstairs at my place, lost, yet stubborn. Back then, I had run down and hugged him. Now, I only said, "Alright."

I was so insistent on holding onto what has never belonged to me. When I came around once more, the narrow road behind me was already filled with traffic. I had no time to lose. The First Witness floated beside Nova. Its galaxy-filled eyes reflected the shadow. "Why are they sad?" Nova didn't know how to answer. Because the truth was simple. They had been forgotten. And there were few wounds deeper than that. The shadow slowly pulled apart. Not splitting. Opening. Like a doorway. A path emerged through the darkness. A road built from shattered galaxies and dead starlight. The sight was beautiful. And horrifying. The road stretched endlessly into the Graveyard. Toward something hidden beyond sight. The voice echoed once more.
