Tiana stormed in with her gigantic head tie flying all over the place. "What are you doing here?" Suzy faked smiled and crossed her hands over her exposed bosom. "We are here to help in any way possible, hi Suzy." Oliver said with hands in his pockets before winking at her. "So what does this symbol mean?" Hilda raised the A4 paper and narrowed her eyes at it. "It is a picture of a pitchfork crossed over a shovel and beneath it is a heap of sand with two plants sprouting from it." I clasped my arms behind my body.

In front of them was a great river, and there was no way further. "Gosh, this is so frustrating." Oceana said as she palmed her head. "The mouth of truth should be on the other side, and there's no way further." Oceana complained. Hazel saw an inscription written on the ground with a strange writing. "See this!" Hazel shouted and Oceana came closer. "See this? But it's not complete." Hazel said. "What does it say?" Oceana asked. "The answer here..." "I saw something like this over there...." said while pointing her hand towards a rock.

Surgical. The second was missing entirely. And carved into the trunk of a nearby ash tree was a fresh mark. Three vertical lines. A curved crescent below them. Not the Oryx sigil. A variation. New. “They’re not hiding anymore,” Alex said as he crouched beside the body, voice low and cold. “They never intended to,” I replied. “This wasn’t a warning. It was an announcement.” He stood, brushing his hands clean. “Then we answer it.”

And looked. The pink lily across her back was lush and vibrant; she could almost catch the scent of its delicate petals as they unfurled. The leaves were a cool, dark green, the pollen was a warm gold. She looked hard, she really searched, but that ugly word that Gideon had inked into her back was hidden, it was gone, replaced by something breathtakingly lovely. Zoe had so cleverly used the lines and curves of those awful four letters to draw the petals and the leaves, and somehow she had completely covered over, erased, destroyed the word.

Mav said, as the picture slide changed to show a zoomed in image of the mark. It was an oval shaped mark, burned into the skin around her chest. In the middle was something that looked like the drop of a blood, then surrounding it was the head of a human, a snake, an owl, and bleak dark eyes like the one she has. Enclosed at the end were words written in a language I've never seen. 'Æß Ęÿœ Ùæę Óêæ Ÿœę'

The code was clear: H-U-L-L--S-P-L-I-T-T-I-N-G. C-O-L-E--D-O-W-N. L-E-O--N-O-T--B-R-E-A-T-H-I-N-G. T-H-E--I-R-O-N--K-I-N-G--I-S--A-T--T-H-E--D-O-O-R.

Then warmth rose from the door. Not from the burned symbol. From beneath it. Something gold flickered beneath the blackened lines, as faint as candlelight beneath skin. Amelia went still. Liora stopped breathing beside her. Amelia touched the center of the mark. Heat pulsed through her fingertip. The blackened lines flared gold. Then vanished. Not faded. Not rubbed away. Gone. The door stood clean except for the original Waycross symbol beneath the number: four crossing paths meeting at a single dark center.

“You’ll thank me later.” I muttered under my breath, “I’ll show you ‘thank me later.’” And I stalked toward the restaurant, Tristain following like he hadn’t just nearly killed me for fun, visor reflecting the streetlights. This was going to be a very long night. I looked up at the glowing cursive above the door. L’Orchidée Blanche I raised an eyebrow. “You used your mommy’s money for this?”
