Waking up to my sin
I moved like a dervish, rolling behind a reinforced console as a hail of submachine-gun fire shattered the glass above my head.
"Kai, stay down!" I shouted, picking off another scout who was trying to flank Malakai.
In the center of the room, the fight was a masterpiece of brutality. Julian was stronger, his mechanical augmentations giving him a strength that defied physics, but Malakai was a force of nature. He took a hit to the shoulder that tore through his henley and left deep, red furrows in his skin, but he didn't even flinch. He used the momentum to spin, driving his elbow into Julian’s throat and following it with a flurry of strikes that sounded like hammers hitting an anvil.
