The noise made Stella stiffen slightly beside me, while Keyleth straightened at once, recognition flickering across her face.
Moments later, a servant appeared at the entrance of the library, bowing deeply. “Lord Oliver,” he said, his voice carrying despite the distance. “Alpha Loren requests your presence in the great hall.”
Keyleth’s lips curved into a knowing grin. “Well,” she muttered, pushing herself to her feet, “that didn’t take long.”
We followed the servant out, the library doors closing behind us with a soft thud, sealing away its dim light and heavy silence.
