One Dark Window Book 3 Novels & Stories

Chapter Thirteen The penthouse windows shimmered with the blood-orange glow of sunset, the city beneath reduced to moving shadows. Alex Morano stood before them like a statue carved from storm clouds—motionless, unyielding, and ready to shatter. He had spent years building empires from ruin, but nothing had prepared him for the quiet, lethal betrayal whispering through his bloodline.

Then look at Fly who is walking away from me. I don’t know who I will follow. I took a deep breath then walked to the stairs near the entrance, I took a book as I passed an empty room where there were some books. I looked out the window and saw a black vehicle entering the Moonlight entrance gate. It looks like it's Dark's car, it looks like Dark is here in Moonlight again. I sat on one side of the stairs on the side of it and started to read supposedly, but no matter what I did to focus on my reading, my brain did not absorb the letters and words of the book.

The library doors locked with a soft click that sounded louder than any shout. I had only stepped inside to find a book that might help me sleep. The mansion felt too quiet tonight, and I needed something to distract my racing mind. But the moment the doors closed behind me, I knew I had made a mistake. Victor stood near the tall windows with his back to me, a glass of whiskey in his hand. The storm outside cast flickering shadows across the room, making his silhouette look even more imposing.

A floorboard creaked upstairs. Damon’s head turned slightly. Annoyance flickered across his face. “Ah,” he murmured. “Looks like our time is up.” My heart leapt. Damon looked back at me. And smiled. “Don’t worry,” he said softly. “We’ll have much more time to talk soon.” The windows exploded inward. Glass shattered across the floor. Dark shapes poured into the room. Rogues. Dozens of them. The air filled with the sharp scent of wild wolves and blood.

She found her loading her rifle. “There are a lot of them out there. It looks like he’s brought his army,” Maggie muttered. Brandon ran to the window. The dark of night was filled with red eyes as far as he could see. It was like a field of rubies reflecting the light of the moon. Tara moved beside Brandon and silently took in the sea of fiery eyes and once again recalled Liam’s words. ‘You have near you very dear souls who, together with you, will be able to stop the evil that has been unleashed.’

Relief floods through me as I approach the door. I try the handle, and the door creaks open, revealing a cozy interior. I throw myself into the cabin, slamming the door shut behind me. A small fire crackles in the fireplace, casting a warm glow across the room. On the other side of the door, the creature roars again. My chest heaving, I look out a window just in time to see it sulking away into the night. God, that was close. What was that thing, anyway? And where am I? Who lives here?

HIS DARKEST SHADE BOOK-THREE ~Prologue~ “Even if you end up hating me for it.” His tone was vicious. “I might scare you,” he continued, his gaze roaming over her trembling form, “but they are far worse—formidable, vicious… and willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want.” He gestured toward her. “Including you.” “Never.” She shook her head, her voice trembling but firm. “I’m not scared of your words. You’re just trying to scare me so I’ll listen to you!”

Justin remained staring out at the blackened sky from the window. He hadn't spoken to me for some time seemingly content to stand in silence. Emma left for her shift a while ago to prepare breakfast for the morning meal. She wouldn't be back for some time. The stars flickered through the curtains dotting the ceiling in starlight. The snow capped mountains beyond stood proud and ominously against the star flecked sky. “Goodnight Val.” Justin eventually murmured heading for the door.

Shadows flickered across the walls like ghosts. Somewhere out there she was reading to the twins, maybe tucking them into bed, maybe crying into her pillow. Somewhere out there she believed I hated her. I lifted the glass in a silent toast. “To the three months we had.” Norman curled up inside me, his tail over his nose. Coward, he muttered. I drank anyway. Later, long after midnight, I stumbled to the window and shoved it open. The courtyard lay empty and silvered under moonlight. My breath fogged the glass.

Caleb flew over the Manhattan night sky, Sera trailing behind him, and as he dove lower, flying over the Bronx, he could see, with his vampire vision, the details of what was happening on the streets below. It was mayhem. Humans were fighting humans, stores were being looted, cars were piled up in the streets. It looked as if a war had broken out.
