Eli's pov I tried to tell Jordan about the side door first, catching him outside the hardware store on his lunch break, and I watched him try to focus on what I was saying while his phone sat face up on the table between us, his eyes drifting toward it every few seconds like he was bracing for the hospital to call. "A side door," he repeated, rubbing a hand over his face. "Sorry, man, that's, I mean, that's actually kind of a big deal, right? Somebody leaving that way instead of the front."
