For a moment, silence reigned, broken only by the distant tolling of the cathedral bells. Adriana touched his shoulder. “He was the last one, wasn’t he?” Damian looked up at her. “No,” he said quietly. “He was the last shadow. What comes next… is ours.” Above them, the bells tolled one final time—slow, heavy, like a city exhaling after a long war. The Last Shadow had fallen. But a new era had just begun.
