"Honey!" After realizing that Roxanne was dead, Marco's eyes were filled with a menacing and bloodshot rage. He glanced up and unleashed a guttural scream. In a flash, he ascended into the air and bellowed, "Kill him! Attack him all at once!"

Lirvana clutched her head, dropping to her knees as the voice echoed again. It was piercing, like it was crawling through her skull. “Who are you?” she cried out. > “Help me... and I’ll tell you who I am.” Her breaths grew shaky. “Help you how?” > “Find the Moonmark.” “What?” she whispered, confused. “What is a Moonmark?” > “A mark…an etched moon symbol. Find its bearer.”

He laughs and so does his mom. I scowl at him. “I will only regret if I will not marry you.” “If you say it like you are so serious.” “Aren’t you?” “Am I? “Are you?” “Seriously?” “Yes?” “Yes!” “Guys!” Phoenix stands up quickly and claps his hand to get everyone’s attention. Their eyes are on us now even the guys that don’t look familiar to me. I guess they are their friends that Abby was telling while we were on the balcony.

(Five years later) Lyra’s POV I leaned against the dark tinted window of my limousine as it drove past the City. My reflection stared back at me, my face covered with a Phoenix shaped mask that only allowed my eyes and mouth to be seen, it was my Trademark. The world now knew me as The Phoenix, the name wasn't just branding. It was my story. I had risen from destruction, rebuilt by hands that should never have held me together, and now the very fire that consumed me was now my fuel and weapon.

Anaya responded, “Are there any people you know named Scar? He killed someone dear to me. Please, if you can, help me in any way.” “This is just between us, right? I don’t want any trouble,” she said, looking side to side. She said, as I agreed, “I don't know this Scar guy personally. Nevertheless, I met a man named Marcus, who was his low-level man. He worshipped that Scar guy. According to him, Scar was planning something big and he would stop at nothing. I don’t know anything else.” “Do you have any idea where we can find Marco?” she inquired.

The other wore a long scar from jaw to collarbone. “You made this easy,” Marco said. “Brave is just another word for predictable.” “Tell me why he loves you,” he said. “Tell me why he keeps bleeding for a woman who burns his house to feel warm.” I looked away, ignoring him. Marco flicked the knife against Tony’s rope. Not a cut. Just a sound. Tony did not flinch. Marco nodded to the tattooed man. The punch that followed drove breath from Tony’s lungs. He coughed, and a red mist dotted his shirt.

And I feel Vance’s gaze most of all. It burns across the distance between us. His eyes pin me as if he could pull me back with them, but Zeke keeps me anchored to him in a silent warning to anyone dumb enough to try. And when Zeke slips away—because of course he has to, to talk danger, to shake hands that are probably lined with poison—Marco slides in like it’s second nature. He just appears at my side, a smirk tugging at his mouth as he scans the crowd. “Relax your shoulders, principessa,” he mumbles. “You look like you’re having a stroke.”

It's somebody's head. Somebody that's... Marco. "Woah," Ryat comments from across the table. The cloche departs from my hand, hitting the floor with an echoing ring. It's Marco. His head, on a plate. His skin is pale, probably a combined effect of losing his head and the cold. "Is that Marco?" My eyes snap toward him, shooting daggers. "It must be him," he says through closed teeth. "Pity. He was such a good—"

Marco smiled and said, "That's my girl. Now, call your aunt because we need to perform a locator spell, but first, I must see Zion to understand what exactly occurred." Marco reached the location where Zion and his mother were spending the weekend. Approaching the room, he hesitated, debating whether to knock, wary of a potential setup. As he contemplated returning to his car to mind-link Zion, Zion emerged, clearing his throat. Marco chuckled, "I was just about to mind-link you. Do you grasp the peril of this mission? If it's a trap, we might not make it out alive." Zion offered a reassuring smile, acknowledging Marco's apprehension, and welcomed him inside.

"Oh my! Marco come quickly, take a look!” Marco rolled his eyes, going to join her. He lowered himself beside her just to have a look. To Marco, there was nothing special about those fishes, but he decided to play along. “They're gorgeous." He said. Alessia frowned and turned to him. “Say what now? They aren't gorgeous you brute! They're cute!" Marco raised his hand in the air in surrender. He had already accepted his fate; he couldn't please this woman easily. Marco acquired this place for a reason. Not just this place, but many more places, and they were all under Alessia's name.
