As I squat there, thinking about all these things, tears filled my eyes, I started trembling because I was holding back the tears, I didn't want to cry anymore. Then a few minutes later, I started to feel some warmness from my right side, it was so obvious because the atmosphere was so cold and I was wearing nothing but a thin plain white short sleeves T-shirt and a pair of blue shorts which was complemented by a pair of black trainers. So my hands and legs were exposed to the cold and I knew in a few more minutes I would start sneezing and that would lead to a cold, I had a weak body, my immune system was quite low but I wasn't a sickle cell.

People looking at me like I was some gold-digging mistake who spread her legs for a billionaire and got pregnant on purpose. My hands began trembling violently. Lucas noticed instantly and stepped closer beside me quietly. “Breathe,” he murmured. “Don’t faint. Grandma hates fainting.” Under any other circumstance, I might’ve laughed. But right now I felt like I was walking toward my execution. Eleanor stepped behind the podium gracefully. The crowd immediately fell silent. Then— To my absolute horror— She pulled me beside her. Directly in front of every camera. My eyes widened. What was she doing?

Raze said wiping her tears again. “Hey, sorry to bother you two,” Daemon said coming into the room. “Speaking of the devil,” Raze chuckled making her giggle. Daemon looked at them confused then shook his head, “Anyway, um, Little One ate five chicken nuggets and some fries and drank all her apple juice. Can she have that ice cream now?” “Chocolate chip cookie dough?” Raze asked and Daemon smirked. “Oh, she’s why that’s the only flavor you will eat,” He chuckled. “Go figure.”

Security helps ward off the crowd as I place a protective around her waist The action causes a small uproar and more reporters try to break through the security. A security pulls out a gun and points it in the air. My hands fly to Stephanie’s ears to protect it from the blast. Two gunshots ring through the air causing utter silence for a few seconds before a scream is heard. It came from Stephanie. “For Chrissakes!” I cuss. “Come on, let’s go” I lead her through the crowd as fast as I can. Successfully entering the place were the event was taking place.

I said in a whisper while firmly holding my firearm. Kyle said, "It’s because it is," in an uncomfortable tone. "She has assimilated into this system in every way. She will be destroyed if it is destroyed. "Then that’s what we do," Damien said solemnly. Wave One Drones appeared from concealed compartments that were revealed as we progressed further inside the complex. "CONTACT!" The drones swarmed, and Damien fired the first shot, shouting. "They’re faster!" Vanessa screamed, ducking behind cover and shooting at one of the sleek, lethal devices.

Another shot. Time slows.

Behind him the pack formed a silent crescent Thorne, Seline, Jaren, dozens more half shifted, claws extended, fangs gleaming under moonlight. Ronan lurched forward, one palm pressed uselessly to the ruin of his sternum. “You’re too late,” Kai said, voice low and final. “Your war ends here.”Ronan’s laugh was wet, shattered glass. “Not yet.”He lunged faster than a dying man should move.They collided with bone jarring force. Kai’s claws raked down Ronan’s side, opening long, weeping gashes through leather and flesh Ronan’s silver laced blade flashed, carving a searing line across Kai’s shoulder blood sprayed hot and dark across snow.

I just want to stop thinking. The bartender places a shot of vodka in front of me, and after nodding my thanks, I pick it up and down it in one go. I hiss as the alcohol makes its way past my throat, but the burning sensation is exactly what I want. Setting the glass down, I take in the environment around me.

It was a one-way trip. Shawn crouched down again, mentally calculating how many shots she'd fired versus how many the sniper had used. He rolled out of her hiding position and fired six shots at the toppled table. The gunman ducked for cover once more, but Shawn pressed his self-confidence, advancing toward him with each trigger pull until he was practically on top of him.
