A Year Later A year had passed, easily and swiftly, as if the ruckus of many months ago had never happened — a year I thought could have gone wrong, that it could have led to disaster after Ralph took me and Zane with him, and afterwards paid an unexpected visit to Aldwin, leaving him with a threat to not just himself but to the empire he holds so dear. I had prepared my mind for the worst that could happen, even if the peace didn't last. But here we are a year later — longer than I had expected — with more peace and tranquillity than I had ever imagined.

I freaking left him five years ago without a damn words!" By now, Amelia was walking through the long narrow passage that leads to her way out. She was staggering while walking and at the same time talking to herself which attract some customers stares when she got to the reception.

Lily’s POV One Year Later It’s been one whole year since Kai and I had our wedding and marking ceremony. I can’t believe how fast time has flown. It has truly been the best, most beautiful year of our lives. Our twins, Varian and Miriella, are already a year old and they’re the sweetest little angels I’ve ever known. Every day with them is a blessing, even when they wake us up in the middle of the night with their loud cries or when they smear food all over their cute little faces. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

A year passed, then another six months. And finally, an year ago, Fynn Maddox had opened his eyes for the first time.

Hope I still didn't know how I'd managed to live through my 31-day post-Killian syndrome but for the past four weeks, everything hurt. Fast forward to two weeks back when I had decided to move out of my mum's house. I tried not to be bitter about how easily she had forgiven Killian and asked me to go back to him. I couldn't blame her for it. She'd always been conversational and believed a woman ought to remain with her husband at all times.

A lot of good that fucking did me, because now I may have lost her for good. I haven't opened my heart back up to a woman in over a year... and I go and fuck it up. *** Rae "Rae!" I keep walking, my heels sticking into the soft grass. "Rae, wait!" He grabs my shoulder, turning me around in one swift move. "Would you fucking stop and listen to me?" he asks out of breath.

I sigh deeply and lay my head down on the ground next to my feet, listening to the sound of my mom's footsteps as she moves around the house. The following morning Alex doesn't even try to wake up early and I don't blame him. He stays quiet all through breakfast, but he eats more than usual. That's good because today marks one year since my parents left. One year since we moved in together. One year since they went undercover and took some bad guys down. One year since we almost lost Mom. But I think it might actually be two years... I know it feels like a lot longer than that.

Adams’ POV It’s been a year since Alex left. Twelve months of peeling myself off the floor, night after night. A year of turning silence into something less suffocating. I never thought I'd come out the other side of that storm. But I did. Credit goes mostly to Jessica.
