Its last few teeth snapped off with a sharp crack, leaving only shriveled gums grinding uselessly against rust. Bang! Bang! Bang! Another wave of zombies slammed into the door. Seeing this, Raymond barked, "Luke, Rowan, you two stay here and guard the door!" "Alright!" Two slightly younger middle-aged men stayed behind while the rest quickly spread out through the building. This was a mid-century apartment block. Each floor had a long corridor that ran the length of the building. Staircases were on both ends. The bathrooms were shared, one on each side of every floor.

The gunshot exploded through the building. And then— Silence.

“You need to know that this is not something that I would drop. And IF you think that you did anything…” Donatello and I walked toward the security room and I couldn’t help but frown at the sight of the two men who were slaughtered to death. Their guns were ready for them to try and shoot the fucker, but it seemed to me like something happened to stop all of them from being able to touch him, and that was something that I couldn’t help but feel somewhat curious about.

The chaos outside seemed to fade momentarily as they entered the principal's room, a deceptive calm settling within the confined space. The principal, nervous but compliant, opened the door, revealing an empty room. He gestured for Liam to enter, and with a smirk, Liam walked towards the door. But in the blink of an eye, the atmosphere shifted once again. As Liam reached out to twist the doorknob, he felt a sudden touch behind his head. Without hesitation, he reacted, swiftly turning around and firing his weapon. The bullet found its mark, hitting Lane in the chest. Lane, who had been pushed forward by Adam, crumpled to the ground, life extinguished in an instant.

“Who’s Next?” My stomach soured at the thought that Blaine was only getting started. This time it was Bruce who had been so determined to protect Michael and me. Sophia covered her head while Victor grabbed Ava's arm. "They found us!" A second explosion echoed outside. BOOM! The front door burst open. Gunshots rang out. Bang! Bang! Bang! They used the darkness and the bitter cold to discourage pursuit, narrowly escaping death. Even so, by the next morning, more than half of those survivors were dead. The news came directly from their mouths. When the truth came out, the entire residential complex was shaken. Condemnation erupted everywhere. Under the coordination of the building leaders, most of the residents gathered in the garage for a meeting. Naturally, no one from Building 4 showed up—because today's agenda was how to deal with Building 4. This was beyond outrageous. Ray had killed people before, yes—but anyone with half a brain could see that others had provoked him first. He only struck back in self-defense.

I tightened my grip on my friend's arm and walked closer, trying to steady my nerves. "I'm the one who asked you to check my car window last night," I said cautiously to an older guard. "What happened here?" The man turned to me abruptly, his expression grave. He pulled me aside, lowering his voice. "It's a good thing you didn't go out last night." A chill ran down my spine. "Why? What happened?" He glanced back at the police cars, his face shadowed with dread. "There was a murder in the building," he said. "A girl living alone was robbed and killed."
