Novel & Cerita Open When You Need To Laugh

The small ones that might otherwise slip away into the undifferentiated mass of days. The first time she laughed in the pack house. Not a polite laugh or a social laugh but a real one, the kind that surprised her coming out. It was something Liora had said at breakfast in the third week and I had not heard the words but I had heard the laugh from the corridor and I had stopped walking.

She was strong, in a way that most people weren’t. I thought about her laugh. It was loud, not one of those soft, polite laughs. When she laughed, she didn’t hold back, like she didn’t care if people noticed. It was the kind of laugh that stayed in the room, even after she stopped. I didn’t want to admit it, but it made me smile sometimes, even when I didn’t want it to.

"I'm Daniel by the way. Daniel smith." -OLIVIA- The laughter explodes and holleres in the room, that the people passing by had to stop and stare at us in complete perplexity. It's cool and very hilarious to laugh, as scientists have discovered it helps increase our lifespan, making us look more younger. But when they're laughing at you... Now that's messed up!

I release a loud and long gleeful caw. This will be hilarious.

~MARCELLA~ I don’t even hesitate. I start unbuttoning my shirt slowly and deliberately. One button… Two… And just like I expected…. “Jesus—!” Lucas shuts his eyes so fast it’s almost impressive. I burst out laughing. Not just a small laugh, no… I laugh hard. Full-on, uncontrollable laughter, clutching my stomach as I bend forward slightly. “You didn’t even try!” I gasp between laughs. “Lucas, you didn’t even last two seconds!”

I walked to the door and opened it just a crack. And there she was. Carla. Her face was filled with tears and she looked like a mess. Her perfect hair was coming undone. She looked… small. And pathetic. I almost burst out laughing begore I held myself and then I let it slide as I burst out laughing even louder than I wanted to. It was not a nice laugh. It was sharp and surprised and tasted like revenge. “Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. Or should I say, what the cow kicked out.”

And he was laughing. It was not the squeezed, formal smile he produced in boardrooms. It was a big, open, head-back laugh that seemed to draw all the light in the room to him. The sound was so alien in this environment, so completely joyful, that it cut through the greed around it and landed in Brian with the physical force of a blow.

she giggled at her own joke. Guila’s giggle rippled through the air, a moment of levity amidst the heavy atmosphere. Her joke, bizarre and unexpected, painted a vivid picture in my mind. I couldn’t help but smile at her words, the image she conjured absurdly amusing. It was as if, even in the darkest moments, she managed to find a glimmer of humor, a ray of light that pierced through the shadows.

His face twists in surprise. I laugh loudly, unapologetically. The sound echoing off the walls of the room. It's the type of laugh where your stomach muscles hurt, your eyes water and you don't even know if you're crying or laughing anymore. "Excuse me..." I wipe the corners of my eyes, drying off the tears of laughter. "I thought I heard you say..." Another burst of laughter breaks free. Unrestrained. I slap my knee through the fabric of my dress as I laugh harder.

I pondered for a moment, then typed, "The one where we're laughing at that silly joke you made. Your smile is my favorite." Her reply was swift, "I remember that! You have the best laugh." I chuckled at her words, "Well, you have the best jokes. It's a perfect match." The conversation flowed effortlessly, a dance of words that mirrored the rhythm of our connection. As we continued chatting, the miles between us seemed to vanish. She shared anecdotes from her day, and I found solace in the sound of her virtual laughter. I couldn't help but tease her, "You know, our photos don't do justice to your laughter. I miss hearing it in person."
