“Then we find the book that started it all…the first page…and we tear it apart.” The screams of the books grew louder as blood poured from their pages, flooding the library red. Amidst the chaos of whispers, a deep sound rose clearer than the others—the sound of a giant book opening. The shelves split apart, revealing a massive volume at the far end of the aisle that towered over Vincent and bled rivers from its spine. On its open page, words glimmered in fiery gold across the blood-soaked paper, in letters so large they filled the whole sheet but written in one sentence:

“Ready?” Helene smiled with a nod. With a deep breath, Sutton pulled at the lid. It popped open and revealed… books. A few stacks of unmarked books placed neatly inside. I had no idea what to make of them. Sutton pulled one out, opening it to the first page. “They’re my mother’s journals.”

He will refuse to read it. "Here are the books you want." He said, putting down all the books on the table beside the window.

As she stepped forward, her hand brushed the surface—and the book opened on its own.

But that wasn't what got my attention. Right at the center of the mess was something glittery and thick— It looked really important. Brielle wasn't one to own books and keep them around; they weren't important. At this point, I could hear the ringing of my work heartbeat in my ears as I closed my eyes briefly. No, I shouldn’t. I knew I shouldn’t. But it was already open. The book was already open. And I was already in front of it before I could stop myself. I picked it up and narrowed my eyes when I realized that the page it was open on had fresh ink together with today's date.

In anger, I slumped to the floor, just very close to where the books were. " You're here again aren't you?" I swiped at one of the books angrily. I twirled the first one in between my fingers, its edges brushing against the skin on my palm. To be quite frank, holding the book up close made we want to open it. Find out whatever secrets it was hiding. Or more specifically, whatever secrets Noah's mother was hiding. If the initials had led me to this even after thrashing once associated with it, then maybe, just maybe it was actually relevant in all of this.
