Shadows and First Blood

Shadows and First Blood

I told the smell, because I was tired of everything leaving. The city had shrugged into a gray sweater by the time I arrived at O’Rourke & Finch. The bell above the door chimed once, polite. Dust motes hung, catching weak light like confetti that had forgotten the party ended. The store always greeted me like an animal deciding—today— that I wasn’t a threat. “Morning, Silver.” Mr. O’Rourke’s voice floated from behind a stack of first editions. He was stacking receipts with the careful attention of a man who preferred order to blood pressure meds.

Falling for a John

Falling for a John

Behind the bar counter, I positioned myself and poured a glass of orange juice, making sure to clarify to myself that I wasn't stealing. This establishment, known as J. Son Paradise, was a unique hybrid of a two-story comic book store and coffee shop, owned by my family. With its red and blue vinyl booths, stools, and rows upon rows of comic books and merchandise neatly displayed on shelves, the place exuded a nostalgic diner vibe blended with a modern comic store aesthetic. There were 85 such stores around the world, but the original one was right here in Philadelphia. Over the years, the store had undergone several major renovations. The second floor used to house offices for a comics publ

The Billionaire Ex-Wife's Return

The Billionaire Ex-Wife's Return

We followed Amber into the shop, and I was immediately hit with that distinctive smell of new merchandise and plastic packaging. The place was impressive, well-organized sections for different genres, a wall of collectible figures, racks of manga in both English and Japanese, even a small café area in the back. Amber made a beeline for the shonen manga section, and Cynthia drifted after him. I was examining a display of vintage posters when I heard a familiar voice. "No way. Is that an original cel from the '98 series?" I turned slowly and found myself face to face with Bryan and Devian.

Mark Me Yours

Mark Me Yours

The shop Scott had in mind wasn't too far from the restaurant, which was a good thing, since he could tell the massive load of carbs they'd just consumed might soon have his boyfriend out like a light, if that massive yawn he just witnessed was any indicator. The shop was a little secluded, tucked off the road a bit and hidden by bushes. It was a nondescript building with no windows. The sign read "Playtime Adult Store" in pink neon. Scott parked the car, and Rayan told himself repeatedly in his head that "he could do this," and "Scott was with him, so everything would be fine." It even had the pink "Omega Friendly" logo prominently displayed near the entrance. There was a guard at the door

My Badboy Knight

My Badboy Knight

DIANE Shopping was nice. I bought my pencils, socks and gloves. I even got myself Chinese takeout for dinner and a couple new comics from the bookstore near the condo. The bookstore, Supernova Comics, is a lovely sight to behold. The interior is beautiful, serene, filled with tall shelves containing so many cool comics, and there's even a cozy mini reading spot at the far end of the store. Mrs Jones, the bookstore owner, was nice and very hospitable to me. My shopping experience there was amazing, and I even see myself probably visiting there whenever I need to treat myself to a comic getaway.

The Demon's Daughter

The Demon's Daughter

she raised an electric zapper up and rolled her eyes "For 'security reasons' he said. Big whup" Olive struggled against the throng of people in front of the closed bookstore "Yeah, you should. There's been crazy killings and disappearances these past few days. Nothing is too much security" Maddie shushed her friend as an old, rotund man came to the front of the store "Okay, people" He yelled above the noise of the mob "The store would be open soon. Now, the books in here are limited editions, and they are going for half their usual price. But only for an hour. Now I want you all to go in in an orderly fashion. No pushing or shoving around. No fighting and please, no destruction of our proper

Luna's Reckoning

Luna's Reckoning

She tore off the files from the base. She placed it on the table and it read. "In case you should find it, Melissa Dunham, Luna of Dunham. These files contain everything we know about the underground organization among us called the Oracle." She glanced towards Beatrice and Beatrice shook her head. She flipped the first page and there was a picture attached to it. It was a building with a placard, Infinite Zoos, placed on the building.

I tell him. “My Queen it’s always a pleasure to do business with you,” Zach is now smiling big. “Give the names of some other packs planing on siding with Cain and I’ll get those training rates increased,” I offer. “Pack Garcia, Meddow Lane, Blood Claw, and Everglades. Those are the ones I know about. Keep my name out of it and I won’t ask you increase the rates,” Zachary counters. “Deal. Rebel Zachary and you know what I have to do right?” I ask.

Ten minutes later, Zachary dropped Charlotte off at Pearl Center. Zachary gave Charlotte her car keys, as she was going to be in Pearl Center for a very long time, and called a cab instead. Charlotte put on a hat and covered her face with a face mask, then made her way to the third floor of Pearl Center. Coraline’s boutique was located on the third floor of the building. Recently, the number of shoppers in physical stores had lessened, whereas the number of online shoppers had increased. Coraline had started an online store as well in order to keep up with the trend.

Praying there will be another book written or something, I know people get busy and life can throw a lot of curveballs ….I hope that what ever reason it’s delayed that one day the author can get us updates. Or an assistant. I’ve been watching a couple books (this one and another and no news :( ...️...️)

this is a great read so far. however, I have been waiting for over a week for the other chapters to be uploaded. I saw them when I first started reading and they have disappeared. you run the risk of losing not only some of your audience but also funds. I have started reading another author's novel.

Boys of RDA

Boys of RDA

The middle of the store toward the front is stacked full of tall white box structures holding hundreds, maybe thousands, of various comics separated out by maker and then series. Most of these areas are easy to overlook, but the back of the room draws my attention. Along the back wall, a few feet from a door marked employees only, three thick orange-ish colored couches form a half circle with a thick coffee table placed in the middle. Tucked away from the two customers pawing through the stacks of comics wait Aspen, Amanda, and Simone as I suspected. Each claimed a couch as their own and I throw myself down on the opposite end of Aspen's. Her thick winter coat fills the empty space between u

Frequently Asked Questions

Finding the perfect anime shop can feel like discovering a hidden gem. I’ve stumbled upon some amazing places just by asking fellow fans in local Facebook groups or subreddits dedicated to my city. Comic book stores often have anime sections too—sometimes they’re tucked away in the back, so don’t hesitate to ask the staff.

Another trick is checking out conventions or pop-up events; vendors there usually have business cards or social media pages pointing to their physical stores. If you’re into figures, stores like Kinokuniya or Mitsuwa Marketplace often carry imports. Online reviews help, but nothing beats visiting in person to see if the vibe matches your enthusiasm.
