"You’re not disappearing. You are making the transition to adulthood. She pulled out her phone and placed Ava's phone on the table. "Do it tonight." Ava looked at the phone as though it were going to blow up. "Tonight?" "Yeah," Patricia said. "Just a simple post. Engagement announcement. No big explanation." The fingers of Ava were floating above the machine but not touching. "What if I don’t?" Patricia met her gaze. “Then you will make people create their own story” Ava shut her eyes for a while. She knew this wasn’t an option.

If we had been born ten years earlier, there would have been no place for anyone else. My fingers tightened around my phone, turning faintly pale, and before I could reply, the comment section was already filled with their mutual childhood friends egging them on: [Marisol and Lucian are the perfect match!] [This is what divine friendship looks like—I’m so jealous I could cry!] [Evangeline won’t mind, right? Everyone knows Lucian is loyal above all.] I grabbed my car keys and drove straight to Lucian’s apartment. Along the way, fragments of the past seven years flickered through my mind.

I hated that Mr Young doesn't seem to take me seriously. “Why did you ask me whether my feelings for you were true? I know you have said it already that I’m a kid but being a kid doesn't mean I can't have feelings for someone older than me and I’m not sure if I can get over you but I’m trying” I admitted, my feelings are out in the open, because God help me. I can't keep my mouth shut.

RAVENA A few days later... It was just over a week before I turned eighteen, and with that, Marina and I would finally leave that backwater, never to return. My God! I couldn't believe it was so close, that the dream we had fought for our whole lives would finally come true.

Want to shoot some hoops?" He asked. "Nope, it getting cloud up already. Come on; let's go for a stroll." I said.

Alex's POV It was one of those clubs that had dimlly lit neon lights, the music was loud and booming, at first it made my ears hurt but as the night progressed, all I wanted to do was dance. I was afraid that they would see that our IDs were fake but they barely even looked at it before serving us our drinks. Zoe went on the dance floor after just a tiny sip, she said that the music was calling to her, I followed and danced along with her. I felt awkward at first but with the flashing neon lights, and beats that made me want to move my body some type of way, it wasn't long before I actually began to enjoy myself.

Choices. Network was bleeding young people to between. Elena. Seven purification volunteers. Eight total choosing between over reality. Eight choosing service over physical existence. That created crisis. Community questioning. Adults worried. Everyone afraid. "We're losing our youth," someone said. Emergency council. Panic obvious. Fear clear. "They go to between and don't come back. They choose there over here. Choose leaving us. We're we're losing them. Losing next generation. Losing future."

Abhimanyu said to Yuvaan. "We don’t want any unhygienic things at the party," Yudhishthir said, and Abhimanyu understood that unhygienic meant no girls, no dancers, no stripers or any inappropriate content at the party. The boys jumped out in happiness, but their joy soon faded away. "And under-20 kids are not going to join the party either," Yuvaan finished, and the boys were shocked. "But Vin, Ian, Shiv, Raaj & Veer, and don’t forget about Nilay. They all will be left behind," Arthit said, and the others nodded their heads.
