I said to her softly and then she nodded and walked away.
The room slowly emptied, boots echoing off the stone floor. Aria gave me one last glance before slipping out with Elder Chorwin. Elena lingered at the door, her gaze meeting mine with quiet resolve, then she, too, disappeared into the corridor.
Now, it was just me and Trevor.
He crossed his arms and leaned back against the table, exhaling a slow breath. “You sure about this, Ryan?”
I stayed seated, not sure for myself.
“No. But it’s the only real path we’ve got right now. Unless you think we can take on two packs combined.”
