He didn't say anything else; he didn't want to go on, he just guided me to his room.
The surprising thing when I walked in was that it bore a resemblance to what I remembered of his life in Britton, the small town in South Dakota, where I was born, where I met him, where my illusions died.
It was simple, with the bare necessities, but each of the things had a power effect. From the impressive bed that looked like a ruler's throne, to the glass shelf in the corner, which, in my opinion, was out of tune with its surroundings.
In it, the life I did not know presented itself to me.
