They’re knee-high and made from lace with a ribbon on the outside of the leg, the inside has a zip. The shoes at the bottom are a more traditional pointed toe heeled shoe with a wide block heel that offers a bit more stability than a stiletto. The heels are three and a half inches tall. Her feet would be uncomfortable, but she’d manage for Kai’s reaction to the idea of her in them.

He opened his wardrobe and at the bottom I could see a dozen pair of silver plated boots. He picked out a pair and handed them to me, holding them by a small part of it at the back that was still canvas. I carefully collected them and I realized that the boots had no laces or straps. They were made to hug the feet as had a slight elasticity as you slid your leg into them. They were light, lighter than they looked and sounded and I went to my room and retrieved my custom one armed jacket. I got back to the parlour and I saw Tia already in her silver sneakers.

When I slipped my feet into the boots, they seemed to add twenty pounds to my weight. She smiled. “I saw that.” Her teeth where so white it’s almost blinding to look at. I looked down at her feet. She was wearing combat boots that were pure jet black. I don’t understand why girls now a day’s like combat boots and boys’ cargo pants as well as our polo t-shirts. “Combat boots make it easier to walk and run in rain.” Daylight said as if hearing what I was thinking. “How…” I was cut off. “How did I know? I’m not a mind reader, Ian, but I can read expressions.” She said.

I’m grinning like mad as I hurry into the room, kneeling to get one of the boxes, I push it open and then soft white tissue to reveal a pair of black low heeled boots. “Awwwn…” I brought them out one after the other, smoothing my finger on the soft shiny leather. How pretty, and kinda edgy. Not my usual style as I was more of a sneaker girl but I loved it. From the length they would likely go up to my calves. I couldn’t wait to try them on. I get the second box wondering what it might be, I’m surprised to see a purse with a long silver chain strap. It was chic and girly and pretty.

I had no idea where but we all knew she was sent faraway while her father dealt with the aftermath of the shame it brought to his political career. Inside the box was a pair of brown boots that would reach up to her calves. Just as she reached for it, Austin placed his hand over hers and whispered, "Be careful. There are hidden blades in the soles and here..." He moved his hand to take the boots up for her to inspect more closely. "You can store your smaller weapons."

"Shit!" "Here, let me help you," Hunter laughed. He squatted down and gently gripped her calf, lifting her foot much like he would a horse's. P.K. Chastain teetered on her left foot before she rested her hand on his shoulder to stabilize herself. I look up at the back door with wide eyes, shocked to see Kent standing there, leaning against the frame with his arms crossed. “Put those on,” he says. “We have somewhere to be.” Frowning, I lift the box into my lap and open the top, gasping a little as I see a pair of the most gorgeous boots. They’re tall, nearly knee-high, and made of supple black leather with a delicate little buckle around the ankle. “Where are we going?” I ask, my face lighting up. Honestly, I don’t care – out of the house it sounds like, so I’m thrilled either way.
