“No,” Miles lied easily, desperate to save the pictures from his wrath. His classmate was suspicious, but didn’t push him any further, because the fire had drawn back his gaze.
“This is amazing,” Aiden muttered, and he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to hear him.
He lowered his camera and stood beside the younger boy, close enough that their shoulders brushed, and the heat of the fire and the heat of their bodies became indecipherable.
The reflection in Aiden’s eyes burned brilliantly along his black irises, tracing the edges of the galaxies buried in them.
