Let's be Together
I’m wearing my best purple pajamas, and Millie is in her favorite dinosaur onesie, her short blonde hair sticking up in random directions like she’s been electrocuted.
“Let’s build a fort,” she declares, hands on her hips like some kind of architect.
I nod solemnly. This is serious business.
We gather every pillow, blanket, and stuffed animal we can find. Chairs from the dining room, her mom’s fancy scarves from the closet (Millie swears she won’t notice), even a giant beanbag we struggle to drag across the floor. The result? A masterpiece. A castle of chaos that barely holds together.
We crawl inside, giggling. “This is amazing,” I whisper dramatically. “This is where we live now.”
